I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

Simple rule: the Senate should not confirm any appointee to any post who canât say clearly who legitimately won the 2020 presidential election. Not just who was âinstalledâ, but who won the vote and the electoral college.
This International Workers Day - consider gathering with your neighbors.
Direct action against those who exploit workers sounds like a great way to spend it if you ask us.

A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trumpâs policies â including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought â are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

Just recently discovered this song. It's now my anthem.
One of Oregon's finest returning home after covering herself with glory upholding "family values." Inspiring.
if Ds control congress, they could pass a bill to send people checks, funded by taxing billionaires. let trump veto it if he wants.
include a provision in the bill that trump's name can't be on the checks.
It is likely that Trump's Iran catastrophe will lead to some kind of compensation for all the countries the US has screwed (which is all of them). We would do well now to lay groundwork for seizing assets of the Palantirs and Musk fortune that enabled Trump's rise and invasion.
A federal judge found Portland ICE protests were largely peaceful. The judge also found DHS had an unwritten policy to use excessive force on nonviolent protesters to chill constitutional rights. The violence was policy, they just didn't write it down.
Itâs amazing (derogatory) how Dem leaders are willing to do anything to win votes from transphobes, immigrant-haters, etc (& will fail), but are unwilling to win votes by doing what the vast majority of Dem voters want.
The wreckage of autocracy goes beyond political
Institutions into who we are. Here is a beautiful contribution that makes this vivid. open.substack.com/pub/thehunga...
An excellent subject for aggressive congressional oversight.
"Mar a Lago Mafia."
I'd do it for free, but would reserve the right to post mercilessly about it.
If Dems retake either house, they must launch an investigation into this. There's no easier way to highlight the corruption of this era and to establish that Dems are committed to fighting it.
Pretty sure @wyden.senate.gov and Maxine Waters would be the chairs to do it.
May Day 05.01.2026 Strikes are the MOST EFFECTIVE TOOL for ousting dictators & wannabe dictators. Let's get STRIKE READY.

Is there a constituency for a merger beyond the policy wonk class? I think a strong case could be made, but who would make it?
I'm thinking reining in the apparently limitless powers of the County Chair might be a good bullet point.
The damage that Trump has done to the federal government now has a number: $165.6 BILLION. www.govexec.com/workforce/20...
The only way we unfuck our country is through a puritanical anti-corruption drive. We need to rip out a vast substrate of corrupt elites and marginalize an even larger contingent of mere incompetents and cowards.
Ppl need to be terrified of the white-collar criminal laws of the United States again.
Weâre getting ready for a massive day of economic disruption on May Day. There are many ways you can take action, from refusing to shop, to walking out of work, to attending a demonstration: survey.alchemer.com/s3/8705046/i...
The rise of the shadow docket in 2016 was followed in 2017 by another procedural trick from the Roberts Court, known as "Munsingwear vacatur," which they weaponized to wipe out progressive precedent without having to explain why. Profs. Lisa Tucker (my wife) and Michael Risch (he's not) explain. 1/2
Hey, I think we found the judicial activism.
If you are as infuriated as you read this as I am, know that Congress not only has the power to fix the abuse of the Shadow Docket but also that the legislation is already drafted. We just need to get it to the floor. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...
My bill, the Restoring Judicial Separation of Powers Act would, among other things force SCOTUS to provide written, signed explanations of all their decisions. casten.house.gov/imo/media/do...
The effort to prohibit energy-guzzling data centers in Maine coincides with massive increases in the cost of residential electricity. My sister's electric bill for February was almost $700, triple January's bill. Almost a third of households are in arrears and at risk of disconnection.
Once again, it all should have ended in January 2017, when he began openly monetizing his hotel, blocks from the White House, in plain sight.
Iâm a bit concerned about how reductive the Orban discourse this week has been, and not just on the part of Trump-Orban apologists. The fact that Orban conceded tells us little about Orbanism, and the fact that MAGA and Orban were kindred, doesnât mean Trump and Vance have dictatorial ambitions.

You could ask your representatives to fund an independent report analyzing alternative policies for funding FPDR that do not rely on a pay-as-you-go tax levy.
