‘Nothing Compares 2 Soups’

Megan Ellison has been doing weird prestige stuff for years (she produced Phantom Thread and Riley’s last film) and from rumored tabloid reports hasn’t spoken to her father in years, I’d rather the children of rich kids make weird hard to market movies than run media conglomerates into the ground

The Jackson estate can't hide Leaving Neverland from those who've already seen it A suppressive legal battle turned the moving Sundance documentary Leaving Neverland into a ghost haunting the Michael Jackson biopic.

I will never forget the experience of seeing LEAVING NEVERLAND at its Sundance premiere. For @avclub.com I wrote about a devastating, definitive documentary about surviving sexual abuse that cannot be erased.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

After the near-revolution of the most educated generation in American history in the late 60s & early 70s, a concerted effort was made to dumb down education so that it never happens again.

I love the reunion idea
Either as a humble Edward II catching his son’s eye while hiding im the crowd and winking.
Or maybe Edward III going full Railway Children “daddy! My daddy!”
(Both unlikely)

Who would’ve thought Derek Jarman’s Edward II film could be historically accurate?

oh heres another:

nearly every mainstream, if not all, conspiracy theory is a psy-op in of itself to get people to distrust scientific, medical, and expert authority, as well as to dumb the population down and distract people from actual issues

Which honestly, seems to be working because

Is there more to this? It’s delightful. Very cinematic.

Edward II didn't die while imprisoned but escaped to Europe and later met his son while the latter was on a European tour. The body buried 'as him' was someone he killed while escaping.

Don't believe, but I always enjoyed the Inner Earth conspiracy, that we're living inside of a sphere rather than on the surface, and that Hitler controls the exit in Antarctica.

That poignant bit at the end where Steve Rogers walks away from being Captain America.

He walks back into frame, looks at the camera and goes “Nah, only messin”
Opening credits.

Ok that’s interesting, cos I’m old enough to remember the strange almost wordless trailer(which sold it as an interactive movie) so I knew some of what to expect

What did you except

Such a strange haunting game. Some of the aesthetic choices are beguiling (aliens who are giant eyeballs, a hero and villains who dress like monks)

They never made a third one (the designers & the CEO fell out) but if they had I’m sure the series would be properly cemented in fans hearts

Manhunter: New York - Ahead of its time
Manhunter: New York - Ahead of its time YouTube video by Michael Coorlim

Finished playing Sierra's 1988 adventure game "Manhunter: New York" a fun little experiment that drops the text parser for a contextual cursor before computer mice are ubiquitous.

I love the story Nic Roeg told about missing the first 30 minutes of watching PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED and thought it was the best, most beguiling thing he’d seen.

And then he watched it again and felt the first 30 minutes over-explained and ruined it.

So I’d like to see PEGGY SUE through his eyes

Damn! I watched this when it was leaving Tubi (so I felt I had to see it) and i had a headache and after 30 minutes I was like “I know exactly where this is going, I’m out”

I’m so happy to be wrong and foolish about this.

Alan Rudolph made a movie with my name, starring Julie Christie. It’s both sublime and on Tubi.

And now these guys have done a song.

Isn’t it time you got Afterglow?

So few non British people realise how right wing so much of the British media is, and how they are responsible for the rise of Johnson & Farage

The last time the news made me laugh was when Ben Shapiro was interviewed by Andrew Neil, & cos it was the BBC, the whiny one thought he was a liberal

If you were a disaffected British person with a tv right now, you would be repeatedly told, many times a day, that Reform are the only possible alternative to the ostensible hell Labour keep making of everything.

They are on TV every day and have been for years

CNN should consider not having people who would defend mass murder say so on the air.

Okay so you might see this video with the audio muted. Now imagine how the music must sound like. I urge you to unmute and listen to what it's actually like because I guarantee you you're not prepared for it.
