Can you imagine what modern action dungeon crawlers would be like now if the Hero of Time was jumping around like Mario just because it was 3D?

It's great how they expanded on concepts in LTTP like optional collectables, dungeon levels, more dungeon gating by dungeon items, etc while still forging new territory with z-targeting, auto-jumping, self-pacing side activities (fishing). They also avoided doing what Mario64 was doing.

Turning 45 has me reflecting in the same way I reflect on all milestones these days — what would my dad think of my life at this point?

Unless a non-ai generated ui summarized the actions the ai requested for you to approve, you’re taking a risk. Maybe that was what happened with the approval you’re talking about?

I think the capital ship videos are all on Twitter somewhere, but here's a video from before he started working on capital ships.

@howieeday.bsky.social had a Unity rewrite of WC going where he pre-rendered sprites for fighters and 3d capital ships with some special pixel/lighting shaders. Pretty amazing work.

LLMs are not ready to be tied to direct actions. They'd have to make workflows with user validation for every LLM action, but who wants to babysit an LLM? We don't have robust logic/reasoning models, nor the training data. Stacking LLMs to validate the actions of other LLMs doesn't work.

Nikolai Kardashev predicted this in 1964 with his civilization scale based on energy consumption.

We've already seen compute in general stagnate to a fixed $/watt ratio in the last 5 years. Now that the vast majority of compute will be in the form of services, humanity's progression will be tied to generating electricity. At the moment, we're tapped.

Corporations and governments will completely dominate TSMC's allocations, leaving nothing left for individual consumers. Samsung will make chips for TVs and Phones. Global Foundry and Intel's foundries will pick up the rest.

Here is my dire prediction. RAM prices will stay. Nvidia and corps will push cloud compute like GeForce Now / Xbox Cloud. Game devs will have to continue targeting 2021 hw for 5+ years. Consumers will not get compute allocation outside of phones and TVs. No PS6. If you want a 16GB GPU, get it now.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw came so close to scratching this itch. The combat needed to be deeper. But the thing that killed it for most people was the disastrous mid game balance. Such a small thing that completely ruined it.

Sublight Planets by fritzy A toy for generating planets.

Can you point me to some of your techniques? I've been playing with planet shaders for awhile.

You might want to distance yourself from Framework now that they're endorsing a eugenicist, white supremacist.

It's a fun demo! It seems like it's doing exactly what you've intended. Nailed it!

Most of them have been. Quite a bit of knee bending and ring kissing in the last decade. It's been very direct and public in the last year. Did you see who was at the inauguration? We literally watch shameless bribes with Tim Apple happen live. Very few holdouts left.

Yeah, tags seem very effective on bsky in helping you reach your audience because of how easy it is to follow feeds. The Godot community is very active here!

In elementary, we had spelling tests every week, and the workbooks had an appendix with acceptable alternatives. For example, it said that "layed" and "tomatoe" were also correct. As a nerd, I took it literally and memorized them.

40 years later, it still trips me up.

The two Star Trek games announced this week were not on my bingo card.

- A Voyager base management game
- A VR zombie game where you as a vulcan try to hold onto your logic as you slowly turn into a zombie

They're both a bit out of left field, but I'm here for it.

She walks against the wind everywhere we go
Stops at every corner, gotta put on a show
Carries 'round a picture of Marcel Marceau
Always the quiet type, but how was I know to know?

She never told me she was a mime.

This is great! An instant buy for a modern version of one of the best roguelikes ever. Are you planning a MacOS build eventually? I always have a mac on me for work.
