I'll never get used to crossing paths with a platypus in my own garden.

So, using this example, you have some koala habitat on the mainland, and Mt Arthur in Tasmania (home to rare snails, crayfish & quolls). BOTH should be protected but now it's OK to trade mining one for not logging the other?

In Australia, only qualified electricians can do electrical work & getting solar panels is a completely normal thing now. An electrician with solar certification does almost everything including electronic paperwork submission & the power company does the final bit to connect to the grid.

I recently gave away trees in Tasmania. I thought it was for our Landcare group, but what if it was really ANTIFA? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

"campaigners from the powerful US Chamber of Commerce and the National Taxpayers Union have urged the White House to push back on countries that use price controls or โ€œundervalue American innovationโ€." Maybe the CSIRO should take back wifi then.

We have more & more of these every year.

It's always exciting when a camera trap captures a platypus. When one's in the water a layer of air and water on its fur makes it too cold to trigger the sensors, but this one climbed right out of the water. #platypus #australiananimals #Tasmania #monotremes #nature #cameratrap #trailcam #wildlife

Potoroos & bandicoots are overjoyed that it's mushroom season and are digging little (and some not-so-little) holes absolutely everywhere. The holes help water penetration, provide a place for seeds to land and germinate, and digging helps spread fungal spores. #Tasmania #AusAnimals #Potoroo #Nature

Strange, I'm just some random Australian and I knew it was in there. ๐Ÿ™„

We had one in an office plant when I was working in WA. It was infuriating. Everyone thought it was a frog & someone named it Kermit. Nope, mole cricket. One day it climbed onto the carpet & was taken to live in a park.

Photo of a tiny bird with long slender beak perched on a piece of fence wire and looking straight upwards. The top of its head is black and chin is white with a large brown smudge. It looks like it's wearing a chestnut-coloured jacks with black lapels over a white shirt.

Photo of the same bird, this time looking to the left with its tongue out. This photo shows black wins and tail, and the rest of it is chestnut-coloured.

Is eastern spinebill season! I love the markings on these little guys. #EasternSpinebill #honeater #AustralianBird #Tasmania #Autumn

Its name should be officially changed to Footy, since everyone calls it that anyway.

Political promises are worthless. For once I'd like a party to be able to run based on what they HAVE done, rather than what they might do.

A family of three moved into our dam this year and built a nest. Instead of laying eggs, they brought three chicks that they'd prepared earlier. Despite the quolls & cats they all survived and we now have a family of six adults.

So, no acknowledgement of the damage caused by petrol & diesel either, I assume?

Don't give up. This time last year, we had a clump of three growing wild that looked worse than that, with no visible green shoots. We thought they were all dead but many months later they all recovered and are now leafy again.

I don't know how difficult it was to get passed, but we have loads of polling stations. Most (if not all) public schools, for a start, & I've never had to queue for more than a few minutes.

I was there too. I was obviously aware of the environmental issues but the effects on water supply and, in particular flooding, hadn't crossed my mind.

Every one of them should have known that these things shouldn't be discussed on Signal, and any (every) one of them could (should) have put a stop to it. They're all guilty.

Every election, the government says "If you vote for us again we'll do these things in our next term". There's very little "Vote for us because of all these good things in our current term".

A lot of people complain about Sky Muster, but we're finding it to be quite acceptable. We're paying $59 a month for Skymuster Plus Premium (unmetered 25mbps), which is the same as we paid for 12mbps FTTN in WA. It's a bit laggy for phone calls but fine for streaming and we don't do online gaming.
