Trust goes with safety. If I cant be safe with you in real and practical ways then I cant trust you. Many folk today wonder why they feel so awlful. Their nervous system are in fight or flight mode. They dont feel safe. Therefore trusting the world around them becomes impossible.

Dr King said the arch of justice is long. I believe that the only way we truly get there is realizing we are connected to other humans. We must work in community. There is no other way.

Working toward this goal is a long struggle. It requires commitment to stay in the place of openness

Today I choose gratitude to start my day. I do this so that the storms of the moment do not dictate my grounded resolve. It is easy to get caught up in an anxiety ridden state of response. Gratitude puts me in a grounded intentional response mode.

I hold onto hope the way Captain America does his shield. Hope can deflect the nihilism and hatred propagated by those who want everyday Americans at each other's throats.

I believe in community. I believe in playgrounds and Sunday picnics celebrating little league wins. I believe in hope

Laughter is the best medicine when the world feels too much. I remember being a kid and just playing outside or riding my bike for hours. Simple joy.

I committ today to finding simple joy. Cup of tea while answering email. My favorite shirt because the hubs says it makes my eyes light up. :)

Critical thinking allows me to digest before response information in front of me. I can use skills in reasoning, logic, ethics, then allow my emotions to react before I choose my response.

Community is an action. Not a noun. It is dynamic and requires me to tend to it like a garden. I cannot expect results from a garden left to wither. Even in the days I feel I dont have it in me I step up and take one action to tend to my community. Then my community can tend to me.

Actions are how I match intentions. If someone tells me something but then actions dont back it up I have data to prove their words meaningless. I strive everyday to ensure my words and actions align.

A dialectic is when two things are true and they conflict with each other. This can cause lots of psychological distress.

We can simultaneously hold hope and faith that there is good in the world and outrage and mobilize against this administration and their actions.

I believe a lot of problems were solved on the playground in the 80's. Had a bully? Good game of dodge ball. Wanted to really win? Swing set and launch yourself into the air like a rocket.
Maybe we bring that back in DC and see who becomes the last one standing in a good game of freeze tag.

I think Gavin needs to go to Kansas. They just passed a bill taking drivers licenses of trans folk. How about culturally normal becomes Constutionally normal Gavin?

Juggling all the things today

Community, real community, is a place of sanctuary and of inquiry. Those who hold space for me also remind me what I say my values are. There is a calling in when I stray from who I say I want to be. Struggle is met with compassion and care.

Humor, even sarcastic humor, reminds me to laugh at life. Not those trying to live it. The thought anyone truly has "the formula" for a perfect life is ludicrous to me. Everyone struggles with something. There is no perfect life. Only a life i can live in full authenticity as messy as it is.

Hope seems to be juvenile and pollyanna to those who want to see it destroyed. Oppression requires learned helplessness. Hope is at the core of activism and advocacy. Hope + diverse community + action = change. That's what the orange kool aid drinkers are really scared of right now.

The psychological consequences of our current administration will be felt for years to come. Being in a dystegulated state because of political gaslighting is a sign you are still engaged. Now we build community so we dont face this alone. #takesavillage

Today Im choosing community over competition. The only person Im competing with is the guy in the mirror. I want to learn, grow, and become more by listening and being with those around me.

My need to be informed and engaged is constantly pushing my mental health and my emotional equilibrium. Im a tired therapist. Those I serve are struggling in the politicized climate to just exist.

He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings.

He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights.

This is political intimidation.
