It's not exhaustive or anything, but this playlist is a decent exposure level crash course on basic first aid techniques, including a video on eye flushing t.co/ytmhAKXOVr

This type of nozzle top, found on Smart Water & some other brands, is perfect for irrigation & can be reattached to 2 liter soda bottles. A bunch of these filled with clean water and you've got a portable irrigation solution that can be easily distributed to where it's needed

Reminder that clean water is best for flushing chemicals from eyes. Antacid wash, milk, etc are useless at best, and cause more damage at worst. Remove contacts & any contaminated clothes, and flush the effected area so the water drains away from uncontaminated areas

Hell yeah. Nice

With either, the most important thing with wound packing is getting some hands on time with a dummy if you can. Stop the Bleed classes should have them, but getting practice actually pushing the gauze into/on top of the artery is critical. I'd say spend money on the class before hemostatic

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Yeah, Hemostatic is the way to go if you can. But I usually say grab regular z-fold first, cause it's more cost effective and you can use it as a backer/bulkifier behind the hemostatic stuff as well. ACE is also good to have along with other soft tissue stuff. All required PPE for sure

I'd also stick to buying this stuff from Rescue Essentials, North American Rescue, and Chinook medical. Those are all official NAT distributors, and run about the same price. Anywhere else and it's possible-to-likely that you'll get counterfeit stuff, especially bad & common for TQs, unfortunately

For sure. Was just thinking about you and Bill the other day. We gotta link up and shoot the shit or something sometime soon 💜

I threw this playlist together a while back that’s got a bunch of good info on how to use all that stuff, and can give you ideas for more equipment, but those are the basics/essentials: t.co/ytmhAKXOVr

• Vented chest seals: A step up from the foil. These are the best on the market and worth the extra couple bucks, imo. Main benefit is the adhesive is rated for high heat and low cold, so it won’t get ruined if you leave it in a car like others will: www.rescue-essentials.com/halo-vent-if...

• Hemostatic Z-Fold. A big step up from the regular gauze. Use this first, then the follow with the plain gauze as a backer to add additional pressure on the artery: www.rescue-essentials.com/celox-rapid-...

• Ingredients to make and ETD, which are standard cling/roller gauze, 5x9 ABD Pads, and an ACE Wrap. This is more useful for treating others than yourself, but it also has multiple uses for soft tissue injuries along with the petroleum gauze

Then throw all that in a Ziplock and call it a day. If you want to add more to it you can get:

• ETD for self-treatment of non-life threatening hemorrhage: www.rescue-essentials.com/nar-emergenc...

4) Z-Fold Wound Packing Gauze. Baseline treatment for junctional bleeds. Grab 1-2. www.rescue-essentials.com/wound-packin...

5) Stuff to keep warm & dry. Layer these if possible:
a. Mylar blankets: a.co/d/bNISOut
b. Disposable Poncho: a.co/d/6gsCUpr

2) NPA in 28fr (most common size), then a 26fr & 24fr if you can: www.rescue-essentials.com/naso-airway-...

3) Petrolatum Gauze. The foil packaging this comes in is your improvised chest seal. The gauze is also great for avulsions. Get 2-10 of these: www.rescue-essentials.com/petrolatum-g...

Yeah, it’s deff gonna be pricey no matter what, but building it yourself is absolutely the way to go. Best bet on a budget is to do it in stages. Addressing the most common causes of traumatic death in order (that you can help). I’d buy each of the following, in this order:

I should really start meditating again. I used to be so calm and insufferable, and I miss that about me

37 years old today, which is by far the most ridiculous age that one can be

35? That man's got his life together. 40? Distinguished. Seasoned but together. Solid uncle material right there

37? Completely unserious. Nobody is 37. wtf are we even doing here?
