Seven Voting Laws Every Blue State Should Enact Right Now Read more here.

I am often asked what laws I would recommend blue states adopt. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach, there are seven changes every state could adopt right now, for virtually no cost or administrative burden. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/seve...

My Jesse Jackson story. During the 1984 campaign, he visited the Oakland Tribune, where I worked. Word got out. 13th Street filled up with people. When he walked out, they roared. He stepped up onto the bumpers of two parked cars and shouted his campaign speech.

It was electrifying.

I interpreted it differently - the start of the set was in a sugarcane plantation, which was the original purpose for the Puerto Rico colony, and using enslaved labor - the power lines are a reference to PR's failing power grid, which has been experiencing chronic blackouts since hurricane Maria

Silhouette of the lit, decorated, live Christmas tree.

I rent a live Christmas tree. I can even rent the same one year after year, but my ceiling won’t accommodate growth. I’m in the Bay Area, not sure where else this is possible. The photo is this year’s Nordmann Fir.

This episode sparked a dive into Maria Ressa, the Nobel Laureate and journalist targeted by Duterte.

From what I've heard in this interview, she has crystal clarity about how autocrats have exploited technology and the law to dismantle public sensemaking.

Unfortunately, Glorioso's is closed due to fire - or at least it was last week when I went there. And we ran into a guy who also didn't know they were closed and he was so bummed he couldn't get his lasagna! Hope they open soon!

Zohran Mamdani’s Offline Campaign Podcast Episode · Offline with Jon Favreau · 11/22/2025 · 56m

The exact message and composition of Mamdani’s campaign won’t work everywhere (for starters not all worthy politicians have Olympic-level charisma).

Still, this interview with his campaign leaders is well worth listening to if you are in, or cover, politics: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/o...
