Spoke with Lebanese FM Youssef Rajji. The people in Lebanon suffer greatly as a result of this conflict. I conveyed my condolences for the many civilian casualties. I commended Lebanon for engaging in historic direct talks with Israel in the United States. 1/2
We also discussed the recent antisemitic incidents in the Netherlands. These incidents are completely unacceptable. I underlined our full commitment to safeguard our Jewish community and Jewish life. The struggle against antisemitism remains a key priority. 3/3
The Netherlands is concerned about the ISR death penalty bill, detention circumstances of children, and condemns the approval of 34 new settlements in the occupied West Bank. We are firmly opposed to any form of annexation. I called for more action to address these issues. 2/3
Spoke with Israeli FM Gideon Sa'ar. I welcomed direct talks between Israel and Lebanon. The violence in Lebanon and Hezbollah's attacks on Israel must cease now. A diplomatic solution with regards to Iran is crucial, also to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. 1/3
We also spoke about geopolitics. Useful to learn more about Panama's position regarding regional and international developments. 2/2
Great meeting with my colleague Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez in The Hague. As Caribbean neighbours, the Kingdom of the Netherlands is keen to continue its close cooperation with Panama on shared priorities: fighting transnational crime, port operations, water management, and more. 1/2
Three years of devastating war in Sudan. The Netherlands continues to support those in need through diplomatic efforts, with a strong focus on accountability. We urge the warring parties to agree to an immediate and sustained ceasefire. The people of Sudan have suffered too much.
