GP referrals will now be ‘assessed’ by a ‘Consultant led’ Single point of access

1 in 4 is the target to reject

GPs & patients must insist on Jess’s Rule in referrals

Any rejected referral must have a Consultant name & GMC number for accountability

This is the only way to ensure patient choice

Adapting to clinical responsibility: Challenges and learning environment in early practice—a longitudinal study The transition from medical student to doctor is widely recognized as a challenging period, yet most studies capture this transition at single time points and provide limited guidance on how educat...

It's rare to have 3 years of longitudinal qualitative data spanning the transition from medical student to doctor.

TLDR: the challenge isn't knowledge (or lack of it). The challenge is the necessary professional, personal and social adaptation.

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

Private firms providing services to NHS made £1.6bn profit in two years, research finds Exclusive: MPs say profit-making levels in England are ‘scandalous’ and call for cap on amount private companies can make from NHS

That's £1.6bn profit that went to investors and hedge funds, not to training more nurses and doctors, or investing in crumbling infrastructure, or sorting out corridor care.

Getting whiplash from watching NHS CEO Jim Mackey
1. aim to decrease number of resident/LED/SAS doctors leaving the UK
2. say the NHS is 'too reliant' on them anyway. 😵‍💫

Australia is loving this. Today's residents are tomorrow's consultants- and minus most of the cost of training too.

The current one is 255 pages – & not fit for purpose.
