120 years ago, today, the Toffees won their first FA Cup final. A Sandy Young goal from a Jack Sharp cross secured victory. Skipper Jack Sharp lifted the trophy.

Born 14 April 1937 in Ffynnongroyw, Roy Vernon, who spearheaded the Everton forward line with Alex Young in the early 1960s, having previously been a star player at Blackburn Rovers. 111 goals in 202 Everton appearances. Later at Stoke City & Great Harwood. An Everton Giant.
Tommy Clinton, Everton and Ireland footballer was born on 13 April 1926. He would live on Goodison Avenue into the 1990s and his wife Muriel and daughter Nicola have both worked for EFC.

On 26 August 1939, reigning champions Everton drew 1-1 with Brentford. With the season being abandoned due to the war, the fixture got played again almost exactly seven years later. Paul McParlan wrote about this for the matchday programme heritage page:

“Bunny” was understudy to Lawton at Everton but is most famous for a triple hat-trick in 1935 for Tranmere Rovers.

On 9 April 1909, the Toffees enjoyed a 5-0 victory in the Merseyside derby. Goodison goal machine Bertie Freeman grabbed a brace. Freeman netted 38 times in the league that season, a feat only bettered by Dixie Dean for the Blues.
