Celebrating the One Rabbit Year

2026 is the year of One Rabbit [Ce Tochtli] according to the Aztec calendar. The deities celebrating this year are collectively called Centzon Totochtin, or “countless [400] rabbits.” They are gods of pulque (octli), drunkenness, and fertility.

I bought one. The lady at the cash register was a bit older and had a thick eastern European accent. She held it out at arm's length and said "What a magnificent creature" then scanned it and lovingly stuffed it in a bag
