In my latest blog post, I try to make sense of the Underground Garage Cruise 2.0. What does it all mean??? #cruises #garagerock

Most students with a protesting bent seem to have been brainwashed by proxies for the Iranian regime and Moscow, including several very deluded college professors. Talk about screwed up priorities. Blah blah “genocide,” whatever that means.
Worst plays to turn into musicals? Here are my choices:
Death of a Salesman
Whose Life Is It Anyway?
The Crucible
The Normal Heart
Waiting for Godot
Rhinoceros
Oddly enough, these would all be good candidates for operas.
I'm sick of the Oscars. It's as bad as the State of the Union, except instead of one asshole talking for 90 minutes, it's four hours of many, many assholes talking interspersed with applause, unfunny jokes and bad music. And there will be a crappy memorial reel with all the focus on the musicians.
That would be what I was thinking of doing, yes, thank you, stranger.
Dude, I thought ayatollah not to get involved in this.
Congrats to Jason "Chip" Khamenei of Van Nuys, the late Ayatollah's grandson, who's been tapped to take over as Iran's Supreme Leader until he's killed next Tuesday. -- per Reuters
Are you talking about Bluesky? Musk doesn’t own that.
New blog post, about the latest act of a classic Boston garage band, aging, the eternal verities and so forth.

Never mind any other art forms. I'm getting the definite impression that the major cultural contribution the USA is making to the 21st century, the main artistic genre, is the Super Bowl halftime show.
There should be a word for the feeling that "there's too much going on right now to pay attention to the anniversaries of past tragedies, let alone whose birthday it is today." (Apologies if today's actually your birthday, it's nothing personal.)
Not to minimize anybody's death, but take the grief people in America are feeling right now for two people killed in Minneapolis and consider that an estimated 30,000 have been recently murdered in Iran by their government. Minneapolis and Tehran are sister cities in democide.
I'm very happy to have some evidence I haven't altogether been shouting into a void. Thank you, Robyn Hitchcock.
Well, now that's kind of crazy. 😍😍😍
New Substack post, about a Robyn Hitchcock concert last night and a bunch of other things. Hope you like it, I try my best to put out a quality product!

21st Century Oscar Wilde: The Snapchat Account of Dorian Gray
Walter Cronkite would be throwing up.
I went back and added some bits to my Substack entry from last January about Johnny D's in Allston (Boston), mostly about the fabled closing night (little-known trivia: it actually WASN'T the last night they had bands play there).

She was basically the hot French babe version of Mussolini, Ron.
I've been doing a bit of writing lately, which I enjoy doing. Here's a post about books and reading. It only SEEMS like a sedentary activity. If you like what you read, consider subscribing!

I love watching Kirsty MacColl in this.
New blog post, link in bio.
The way things have been going this weekend, this is the next headline I expect to read:
"MALIBU -- Beloved entertainer Dick Van Dyke finally snaps, gets hold of an AK-47 and slaughters 51 people, injuring another 22, at his 100th birthday party."
I know, I know. Sorry.
As if this weekend hasn’t been awful enough. No words.
The one with Julian.
Oh no, not Dick Cheney! Damn you, 2025!
Just kidding.
Signing petitions is the liberal atheist's version of praying. It gives the illusion of doing something tangible to achieve a goal, although the actual results are likely negligible.
Слава Нью-Джерсі!
This reminds me of something in history, can’t quite place it.
I'm fascinated by the Elaine May bio that @carriecourogen.bsky.social put out last year and I'm plowing through right now. She was known before that, but so much was forgotten. If a Nichols & May biopic happens, I'm picking Aubrey Plaza to play Elaine. For Nichols, Michael Cera maybe?
