I have rescued dozens in my 80+ years, and still have 4 that I hope I can outlive. I just lost one I adopted when he was 2 months old, a 3-legged, nobody wanted. He died when he was 16, 7 months ago. I still cry for him every day. I don't think I'll live long enough for my heart to mend.

Yesterday was my hardest day after losing Mickey. It was 6 months after and I thought of him every minute of the day. I feel like part of my soul has been removed without anesthesia. I appreciate everyone who cares about my precious little 3-legged Mickey with a personality that knew no bounds.
I lost my precious Mickey on September 29, 2025. He lived with me for 16 wonderful years. I will never forget his gentle ways. So very sorry for your loss.
I lost my best friend of 16 years 9/29/2025. There's not a day that I have not wept for him. He slept with me every night and let me love him every day. My heart breaks for those who have such a bond with their pet and have had to let them go. I held Mickey in my arms until he drew his last breath.

I have far more things to worry about, like is my cat going to get along with the new neighbor's cat? We must get our priorities in order during these stressful days. She's 19 years old and quite finicky about her likes and dislikes.
It's been 5 1/2 months today since I said goodbye to my precious Mickey. He lived all of his 16 years here with me. My heart is in so many pieces, I don't know if I'll be able to get it back together again. 💔😭🌈

If I adopt a dog, I will go for the oldest, longest, resident at the shelter. At my age, it wouldn't be fair to adopt a puppy. I always feel sorry for the older ones that no one wants.
