Looking at that West Ham v Arsenal fixture and developing a tic at the thought of wanting both of them – nay, NEEDING both of them – to lose, to avoid the worst possible scenario for Spurs. #coys
Is this different to the woman on Instagram who became famous for smooshing her face into various loaves?
"The 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, we will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We're going to live on. We're going to survive."

Fatih Birol, the executive director of the International Energy Agency, speaking about impending jet fuel shortages thanks to the war in Iran, says: “In the past there was a group called Dire Straits. It’s a dire strait now, and it is going to have major implications for the global economy. And the longer it goes, the worse it will be for the economic growth and inflation around the world.”
Oh Fatih, you don't need to do that, you don't need to make a strait joke, just tell us if we can fly to Mallorca in June or not
Ooooh, ha ha. It did seem a little overzealous!
Makes a lot more sense now, oops
Proof, at least, that they read it all!
Honestly, as harrowing as that may look, I also feel like you're definitely getting your money's worth, ha ha
Zoomed out view of a redlined manuscript with every single page redlined extensively
Editor: "I really don't think this book needs many changes! You just need to cut and clarify some things."
I don't think those words mean what you think they mean 😆
The changes:
I once found an ARC for sale in a charity shop, which seemed extremely uncool (of the reviewer)
“Hold me closer”
I could get away with saying "piss" or "crap" or "bugger", but always got a scolding if I said "cor blimey" because my mum thought it was a derivative of "god, blind me" and she wanted me to keep my sight
Made me chuckle, anyway!
John Spartan from Demolition Man with a speech bubble below him at the moment he discovers he's a seamstress
I made this to quote repost you, but they're disabled...
I've never read the comics, but I'm clearly enthused by this world, so maybe I should!
On the subject of mantasy, I also think we haven't had any sci-fi for men in a long time – a genre that I've coined "science dicktion"
In all this, I'd forgotten the alien ship in the first movie, and the corpse of its navigator. The universe is clearly not empty of space-faring intelligences, but communication between species is never mentioned (that I recall)…
It always begins as "cool thing" before the choppy road towards lore
It's one of those things when a franchise is spawned from a one-off movie, and every throwaway line becomes the bedrock for lore – it's creatively stunting, and, really, entirely unnecessary (you can write about the world without needing "permission" from the original script)
In one of Yahtzee Croshaw's reviews he discusses this evil/stupid business/military guy thing: calls it the one plot Giger's Alien drags around everywhere like a security blanket, and honestly that seems fair - while there *are* other Alien plotlines it does seem to be a perennial weed.
I always took from the early Alien films that the universe is pretty empty – humanity has started to colonise systems in Sol's vicinity, but the only life they've encountered have been non-sentient pests – resulting in menial "bug hunt"s. Is there some alien civ out there vying for dominance?
It can't be just a case of they were "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" – they sink trillions into this project, sacrifice hundreds of lives into its study. What are their plans? Who is the enemy?
If they were to successfully develop a xenomorph bioweapon, how would one deploy it? Is the aim to completely wipe out a species? To what end, to take control of a planet? But then it's swarming with xenomorphs? How is this end game better than nukes? Do they expect to be able to control the aliens?
Watched Predator: Badlands
For those continuing to write in the Alien/Predator universe (side question: why is this even a joint universe?), my question is this: upon whom does Weyland-Yutani want to deploy these bioweapons? What would be the goal? What does success look like?
I will allow one use of AI and that is to digitally remove all the face strokes
Completely ludicrous and always awesome
Face/Off on Blu Ray with the faces of John Travolta and Nicholas Cage on the cover
Tonight's movie – a perfect film if you remove every creepy face stroke
Blocked for spreading AI bullshit
