I‘m honestly surprised we didn’t see something similar during the Tour. And to my knowledge the protest was peaceful and nobody was harmed.

While people care about sports some things are bigger

Protests are by its very nature disruptive. Protests want to get your attention and one televised cycling race worldwide within a cycling mad region is a no brainer.

And while Israel-Premier Tech itself isn’t state funded, it’s billionaire founder openly supports the bombing and occupation

Who could ever have thought that a stage in the Basque Country could be interrupted by protest?

It’s not like that has a long history within the Vuelta and the organizers decided not to come back for some decades.
It’s not like there’s a major basque solidarity movement with Palestine.
