When I read the brief intro on me in the new team minutes reads; she loves motorbike racing and is a superbike marshal.
Just to be super clear; I enjoy observing racing, I am not a racer, let's not get any misunderstandings there ๐

Again, if you can't drink properly with just a drink or two when socialising, you likely have a drinking problem.
If you resort to violence then you definitely have a problem.

If you can't have just a drink or 2 like a normal person then perhaps you need to check yourself and stop drinking.
If you can't resolve disputes without resorting to violence then that speaks volumes about you.
The videos show a group of idiots imo.

RMT on strike again? Is is Christmas already? Oh. They're just striking more nowadays.
When do we get driverless trains again? Driverless cars are being trialled, surely we can have the tube run without RMT constantly holding London to ransom.
First day in the new job tomorrow, genuinely excited for this new chapter in my life.
I just need to remember to turn up to the new building and not my old one out of habit ๐
End of an era in my life today, closing a chapter that's had lots of highs & some lows, no regrets.
My new chapter starts next week, one I'm very much looking forward to, my new team has been welcoming. I have books to learn my new field and sink my teeth into. Before I do, a long weekend break ๐
And in other news;
Solicitors Act 1974 to finally be reviewed, barrister hourly rates in the pipeline for publishing for the 1st time & costs 'lite' budgeting pilot to be extended.
Never can it be said that costs law stands still!
I will miss it but looking forward to my new specialist field too.
Unfortunately seeing a few reports of judges with notices of misconduct for delays in handing down judgments. The delays appear to be workload related. Along with troubles in recruitment into the judiciary this doesn't bode well for us all.
Along with court closures, long term investment is needed.
Brief research on full electric cars on the market. Disappointed to see they're largely 4x4 design. High bonnets. Drivers won't see young children and animals in front, too large for some UK roads. Disappointing.

Do read.
Duty solicitors are available, they don't cost the earth, they certainly aren't paid it either, as are legal aid lawyers as a whole.
If you ask those in legal practice they will confirm AI is not doing just fine and court decisions confirm this.
You may of course blindly hold your views though.
There is no denying barrister fees are expensive.
One point I've noted is those holding scathing views of lawyers tend change when unfortunately charged at a police station and in need of legal representation.
AI is in it's infancy in law but millions is being spent to rectify that. By lawyers.
Is your distaste towards lawyers because they, among others who studied degrees, wrote essays?
There is case law regarding reliance on AI by lawyers and a big dressing down given for doing so and not using their legal knowledge to check the AI that produced hallucinations. AI is not there yet.
Interesting perspective. Do you believe that every job is to be replaced by LLMs by chance?
I agree re LiP usage of AI. Legal research is a good idea and if AI assists then great, but do not blindly rely upon it.
Persuasiveness of advocacy depends a great deal on quality of the written advocacy and yes the case of course as you say.
There's no doubting about the cost of legal representation. Fixed costs rules have tried to address this problem. If someone loses thier case then they pay, legal rep or not.
I do agree re AI in that it is simply a tool. The output needs to be checked. Failure to do so is on the person using it.
Interesting perspective. I've not seen a greater proportion of LiPs winning at court due to AI usage. Most I've come across do not use AI. Courts bend over backwards to accommodate LiPs.
I disagree with the view that AI can do all but advocate. A helpful tip: oral advocacy plays a v small role.
I would rather AI automate my house chores so I can spend my time drafting pleadings in my day job. Or even so I have more time to write my book in my own time.
We have precedents built from experience that we can refer to. AI is not reliable nor time efficient in my experience.
I confess I'm not usually a fan of this comedian. But this. This was just.... well, you find words to describe it ๐
Laughing out loud with tears in my eyes. Sometimes simple done immaculately is the best ๐

Northern lights are due over England again tonight.
Tiggles and Giggles should be observing together.
Common sense is not a flower that grows in every garden. Thesedays integrity and accountability are also traits growing in fewer gardens...
A note re government lawyers. We are hard working. Those I work with have dedication to our role. We don't work to put money in a partner's pocket, but to save tax payers money + help the government work within the rule of law.
So I'll keep pulling these 12-14 hour days to get the job done and well.
A good lawyer knows their caffeine points at any given time ๐
I once professed my love to one of the teams in pitlane for giving me 2 teas and a kitkat. She was a legend I tell you!
Looks like you have a lovely evening there, enjoy ๐
Another one of those weeks where I'm working all hours under the sun to get pleadings drafted and to the client before serving.
I've forgotten my name, my age and where the food is. I have however, remembered where the kettle is. Phew.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, New York.
Well unfortunately I'm not going to advise the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in respect of motorsport regulation for now but my new government client is incredibly important, now more than ever.
DCMS will be on the list in future ๐
Trends regarding usage of nicotine pouches are being gathered. Some products are marketed to & used by school children (not necessarily this company's products), at cost to childrens health and to the NHS.
Decide for yourself what your principles cost you.
Association with an addictive drugs manufacturer and BSB?
We now have this disclaimer at the top of the BSB website. What does this say about BSB?
I respect my colleagues varied opinions, as one should, including those that now boycott BSB due to this association...
Principles come at a cost.
As individuals and corporate entities.
Those we endorse and associate ourselves with.
We live in a free land; we have rights but also responsibilities.
BSB association with a reputable bike insurer is a positive marriage.
Now either unbeknownst to me, I have had a sex change, or alternatively, some idiot is trying to scam me. I'm going for the latter ๐คญ
Might be worth noting the number people.
