Listen, I'm from Wisconsin, and we've produced some culinary bangers (bratwurst, beer cheese soup, Friday night fish fries, etc), but the less said about the jello and mayonnaise war crimes the better
I've been to enough potlucks to know that we Midwesterners have committed some DEEPLY unforgivable crimes against Salad as a Concept
A digital illustration of two japanese lesbians flirting in a queer underground bar in the 80s. One of them wears a blue jacket, the other a suit, while in the background there's liquor and a multitude of little stickers and illustrations of lesbian and queer marks.
The full illustration I did for @taplingzines.bsky.social "We've Always Been Here"
The zine depicts queer couples throughout cultures and history and I had the honours of portraying a Japanese lesbian couple in an underground bar during the 80s✨

Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth. [alt text from NASA]
The #Artemis II astronauts said they needed more superlatives to describe their view of the eclipse, when the Sun was behind the Moon and its near surface was faintly illuminated by Earthshine
Called my rep and said "I am concerned about the President's posts about committing genocide and would like my reps to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office" and the guy was like "okay I'll pass that along, is there anything else" and I was like no that's pretty much it
Never in my life have I been more the EXACT target audience for something

For everyone who thinks they're too bad at writing to possibly do their ideas justice, a little secret: every professional writer I've ever spoken to feels that way. Language is an imperfect medium. We're all struggling with the inadequacy of our craft--but the struggle itself is worthwhile.

It's Trans Day of Visibility! The news out there is wretched even more than usual, but our joy and self-creation will outlast all of it.

I'll always take a chance to shout out Seth Dickinson's Masquerade/Baru Cormorant saga. The story of a lesbian accountant who sets out to infiltrate the empire that colonized her home and destroy it from within. Full of densely layered worldbuilding; brutal, heartbreaking, often surprisingly funny.

Janeway saying "can you find a way out?" she looks good as hell and you can also see seven of nine out of focus in the background
Tom Paris saying "there's hundreds of corridors." chakotay is also there unfortunately
tom saying "it's like a maze." there was also another shot of him saying "I don't know" before the corridors line, but the subtitles didn't line up for me to get it all in. You can only do four pictures. Life is full of these little compromises. chakotay is again there, unfortunately
Janeway saying "well, be a good rat and find us the cheese, hmm?"

If you have a couple of hours for some theatre and queer joy, go watch Ncuti Gatwa in The Importance of Being Earnest. Today’s the last day you can see it free on YouTube.
