The hive is alive!!! The dog's nose is never wrong when is comes to rodents. They have plenty of honey stores and in my experience, the hives have never liked pollen patties and the in-hive sugar water feeders caused mass drowning.

We've never used a door in winter, only when homing a new hive. I'm scared to open it because I don't want to blast them with the cold. My dog sniffed for rodents and she did not react. I will try making a structure to shade them. There are pine trees shading the top and North side.
