TL;DR Unity -> Godot transition: after 13 years in unity, it took me 4-6 weeks of getting adjusted, and now i’ll never go back. it has quirks, like other engines. there’s bugs. but it’s free, basically equally capable, and well reported issues get fixed quicker than in unity (sometimes within hours)
Looking to sell my GBA collection as a job lot. Valued at £1700 (sacred stones is still sealed) based on CEX/Ebay, but obviously open to offers.
Any interest? Feel free to link in any shops who might need stock.
Not really interested in selling individually, too much hassle.

@positrongame.com's newly remastered soundtrack dropped last night. Now live in the game on Steam! Here's Chris Walker (colourofsound), the creator of the soundtrack, enjoying playing the game (and his soundtrack) at MCM Birmingham Comic Con / EGX at the weekend :-)

Could someone recommend a way to reduce the addiction to playing Ball X Pit? I’ve not had a problem like this since uninstalled Vampire Survivors. I just want to play in moderation.
EMI meetups are back for 2026!
Join us from 7.30pm on Thursday 8th January downstairs at the Barley Twist in Nottingham!
Bring your game, bring your demo, bring your art, or just bring conversation, all levels of experience welcome, it's just a relaxed evening of networking and game dev chat!
I had similar graphical oddness with some scrolling fog on a game I made. Precision degrades the further from 0 making the fog stretch and distort over time. I love bugs like this, teaches you some good practice and the pain makes the teaching stick.
I don't like the idea that I made games for a system that is OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE GRACED THE COVER OF RETROGAMER.

Don’t disagree on the weather front nor the design, I think I’d be disappointed if I’d spent money on travel, accommodation and a stand though at this event, but it hasn’t cost me a lot and made a handful of connections. Insomnia was better, old EGX was better, Develop and Indie Treasures is better
I’ve exhibited at both EGX and Insominia. My understanding was that EGX itself is a small sidebar of MCM Comicon now so although lots of people most are not there for the games. I did forget that insomnia was returning! I thought that was gone for good.
I went today. It’s relatively local for me and a new expo is a nice idea
Quite enjoyed the industry stage talks.
The NEC is too big for the size of exhibitors, the number of visitors was lower than expected too (poss due to the weather).
Given it’s a first attempt I hope it can grow next time

Check out my game @positrongame.com on Steam. Busy working on some updates bringing new game modes, local splitscreen, and network multiplayer too! #GameDev #IndieDev #ScreenshotSaturday #IndieGameDev #SoloDev
I didn't even get a single reply to this. I'm literally offering to buy a copy of your game, play it, and review it.

Probably about the same, just older and still working in the industry?
If Xbox 360 turns 20.... then so does my first two game releases. That feels too long ago
For gamers who aren't in game dev, you should know that we are in one of the worst periods in game dev history in terms of industry stability and the reason you're not seeing that play out through products is because the average development window of games is 3-7 years so it hasn't reached you yet.
Cartoon: simple black and white line drawing. A couple in a living room. The man is sitting in an armchair reading a newspaper, head turned slightly towards his wife who is standing at the window, tugging at the curtain and saying "I see the Renegade Master's back once again with the ill behaviour".
My most popular cartoon by a long chalk is also oddly niche, in that it mostly appeals to a generation who remember the song it refers to and enjoy the nostalgia for their youth. I can draw one for you if you like.

Bear with me, I anticipate your disagreement. There is a clear pattern to the advice given to those who want to press back against rising racism. What it boils down to is that if you point out that racism is often being dressed up as “legitimate concerns” you will alienate people. /1
The Direct was to announce a new F-Zero right?.... Right??? Did they shadowdrop a GX/AX bundle?
Neil Goodman, lead dev at Nerial, said of the workshop:
“Andrew is friendly and helpful to work with, good at gently steering us back toward best practice, but also pragmatic about giving us the maximum value from our time - as a small team who are also working on every other part of the game.”
I wonder why there's never been even a spiritual successor. I understand why Rare hasn't revisited it, it was a bit of a rough-and-ready game, even for the era, but had so much charm and the scrappy team that pulled it off gave us such a unique game. Would be worth pitching Rare for the license :D
But two decades is long enough for even the deepest wounds to heal…
It's been 20 years since the launch, it really was a trial by fire.
So many things went against the team (I only joined for the last 2.5 years, it had problems even at that point)
And yes, it's visually aged badly, it's design somewhat conflicted - even at launch BUT it did have great multiplayer.

Watched this and thought it'd upset me
It didn't!
There's a few things I disagree on regarding how it plays, and from a dev point of view so many challenges we overcame to release what was released
Could talk for an age on this... plenty of fair points in the vid
