Oh yeah, I actually went to 4 out of 5 masterclasses that I bought tickets for. A lot of them were from Disney veterans. While masterclasses costed money, panels were free to go to (well if you buy tickets for the expo, I got the VIP tickets).

So I’m genuinely curious… Blender by now has the tools to make traditional animation within the software, has anyone been developing its own Deep Canvas (a Disney tool developed for Tarzan)? Where one paints backgrounds ontop of 3D assets and it is saved as seamless art?

Comic. I’m at my desk, leaning over to the doorway, saying “Hey! Foghorn! Foghorn Leghorn! Get in here!” Foghorn Leghorn is walking past the doorway, “Boy, I tell ya, I tell ya, not so loud, boy. What, I say, I say, what d’ya want?” Next panel, I’m gesturing to my computer. “How do I find that really good manga you recommended? It’s an anime now? I keep getting Halloween costumes.” Foghorn leans over my chair, “well, boy, I say, I say, you ain’t typin the entire title.” Last panel, I turn around- “you said ‘witch hat.’ Foghorn gets in my face- “open your ears, boy!! ‘Witch Hat Atelier, I tell ya! I tell ya ‘Atelier,’ I tell ya’”
How I’ve Been Pronouncing It (Feat. Foghorn Leghorn, my… roommate?)
I can easily see a niche account called “cartoons watch TV” relating to this if social media was made in the 60’s.
With any announcement of these films, I want to give them a chance, but then they keep doing this shit.
I call this expression: “Relax! It’s just my first day on the job! How bad can it be?”
I'm so fucking tired of this face. For the love of GOD Disney. All your female characters look the fucking same.
National Japanese Animation Day is here so…. I present to ya’ll an excerpt from Yóji Kuri’s 1977 short film, ”Manga” A really fun film that showcases not only Yoji’s brilliantly satirical humor, but his ability to make such great independent cartoons that are still amazing to watch to this day!
I say this because Fawn co-directed “Wish”, and… we all know how people feel about that so let’s move on.
Guess it might be clout people trying to spawn fear about this project (ya know? The guys that say that WDAS is dying every year?)
Deadline brought it up that Jason was co-directing (and I kept hearing that Fawn was involved too but I don’t know).
I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the fact that Josie Trinidad got demoted to just a co-director with 2 being added (Jason Hand & Fawn Veerasunthorn), I fear we have another “Elio” situation here.
Bluesky today:
If you have spent any part of your life obsessed with the Nelvana animated film Rock N Rule, you'll be as thrilled as I am about this Kickstarter. www.kickstarter.com/projects/ven...
Hades after getting robbed of his Victory Royale from Peter Griffin
accidentally logged onto linkedin today (bad!!) to get a triple blast of 1000 disney layoffs, pixar guy trying to pass off obvious ai of a generic native character with his comments off, and the sentence "If I was getting married today, I'd probably spend half of it building on Claude."
crit damage
Me standing in front of an inflatable Cowboy boot that reads “Animation Y’all! Expo”.
Me with John Pomeroy, holding pen art of Mrs. Brisby with his signature.
Me with Andreas Deja, holding a page from my sketchbook with drawings I did at a panel he, John, Stephen Anderson were hosting about “An American Tail” and “Great Mouse Detective”.
Me with Joanna Davidovich, holding an ORIGINAL animation drawing from her short “Monkey Rag”.
If anyone was wondering what I’ve been up to last weekend, well…
Getting a seal of approval and a “keep drawing!” from THE Andreas Deja was a big highlight.
Hey, I was there too!
‼️COMING SOON, APRIL 17‼️A brand-new Sakuga MAD reel on a decidedly underrated talent: Bob Richardson. Witness perhaps some of the most realized and lively animation during an era of American animation known for the exact opposite. Look forward to it!!~
Yeah, besides they’re already very busy on a few series right now. If they get into the feature film thing IMMEDIATELY, it could cause crunch if they don’t allow some to work on individual projects. Maybe in a few years though they might do features.
That is absolutely true… and a business decision that’s going to bite them in the ass later (so is the ‘sequel potential’ in pitches brought up in that WSJ article but that’s a story for another day).
But we’re not talking about WDAS, are we?
YEAH THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING. Reading this I was like “Did they forget a certain film that came out recently with a female protagonist?” But with that article, part of me believes that PIXAR is really scared about losing its general audience.
Source?
Knowing how sometimes the real answers are a bit more boring, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re trying to hide the real reasons and go for ones they know will get a response. Because PIXAR has done films with female protagonists before. This just sounds like a really dumb excuse.
The way a certain John Lasseter isn’t brought up here like they thought we were stupid and wouldn’t notice…🤨
Tomodachi Life, Just a week Away!
He looks like he’s going to do the bunny-hop while Mickey Mouse is tap dancing on top of the shelf like that one MM short.
Just did a comparison between the image from the new transfer VS the old Bluray. Seriously, thank God. No more highlighter neon yellow hair.
