two images of the human body's circulatory system. One of them with good cable management
The human circulatory system, before and after proper cable management.
if Tim Curry had only blessed us with this speech it would have been enough, but he has given us so much more
I don’t think we talk nearly enough about the fact that corporations like Amazon, don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay nothing for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business.

"What’s the point in having elected leaders if they’re not going to start costly wars that nobody voted for? How else were we going to spend those billions of dollars we had lying around? Invest in public schools and healthcare? That's ridiculous."
Now the overdiagnosis / overtreatment panic will have even more influence in the US.
This is why authoritarians love "Evidence Based Medicine" / GRADE etc - they're so comprehensively, conveniently subjective that whoever picks the pickers, picks the cherries.

Look into Novavax, which does induce long lived plasma cells (LLPC) and long lasting antibody and mucosal antibody responses.

New piece in BMJ by @trishgreenhalgh.bsky.social, Sam Lovell, @jvipondmd.bsky.social, @mjnabuurs.bsky.social and myself on how poor quality trials can bias evidence against respirator use.

My posts around risk management and biological hazards often relate to #COVID and #misinformation, as public health and infection control leaders have botched those so badly, however I also see critical importance in integrating system #safety directly into biotech research. Our latest in that area:

Public health screwed up - that's the bottom line for everything related to the pandemic.

Now they're trying to bury the consequences by stirring up a moral panic about "overdiagnosis" and "overtreatment", and making up anything-but-COVID just so stories.

Any push to increase school attendance has to deal with the fact that schools are where sickness spreads - and it doesn't stay there. Forcing sick kids to go anyway will make that even worse.
If they're serious, start by cleaning the air. Attendance and learning will improve as kids get healthier.
Public health and infection control leadership summed up in four images. Krever Commission 1997; SARS Commission 2006, which cited Krever; the UK COVID Inquiry last month, conspicuously NOT citing the SARS Commission indicating IPC / PH managed to bury it; and total excess deaths from the pandemic.
Hey all, Kevin here. Please read.
The acting director of the CDC has delayed publication of a report showing the covid-19 vaccine cut the likelihood of ER visits & hospitalizations for healthy adults last winter by about half. Both Trump & Biden have politicalized the CDC blocking accurate scientific data.

The only thing about this weirder than the seal sneeze is that as a case report, under the GRADE structure used to make medical guidance this one incident is supposedly higher quality evidence than the entire fields of OHS, bioaerosol science and virology put together.
If we somehow got an aggressive liberal president they'd be constantly accused of "Trump-like tactics" and they should start practicing now how to say "Yeah I did that and it was good." The familiar cautious approach full of self limiting caveats and hand wringing would be a failure

Preorders just started for the Airgradient Go, a portable air quality monitor for particulate (PM), “CO2, tVOC, NOx, temperature and relative humidity sensors alongside an onboard GPS!”
Looks solid and a good value, and open source!
Wow! That’s great! … But, wait, what’s that happening at the end of the graph…? 😬
The statement is true but omitting something pretty impactful and terrifying (of course you know and it’s why you posted this)
This thread from bsky is relevant and very insightful to the organizing we’ve done as these institutions say they’re continuing their mission, but actually just attempting to destroy accountability (and our health): skywriter.blue/@eliothiggin...

Spaceflight is inherently interesting of course but they can't keep doing the same thing if they expect to grow viewership. There should be a betrayal arc. At a pivotal moment one of the astronauts should be revealed to be evil
