The nonprofit I work for has had to lay off hundreds of people because of terminated grants. I’ll be more optimistic when I see coworkers getting their jobs back.

Among other things, I’m really thankful that LJ is where I got into fandom. I feel like a lot of today’s fandom spaces would be sooooo much better if they developed in an environment like LJ. I feel like it helped establish a “curate your own experience” culture better than today’s platforms.

I wasn’t laid off. This time.
This was the 2nd round of layoffs where I work. There will be more, and I’m not very optimistic about my chances—not because I’m expendable, but because they’re laying off people who really AREN’T. No one is safe and everyone is scared.
This sucks.
