A white boat with cerulean blue trim and a black Yamaha motor is tied up at a wharf with red wooden rails. The wharf’s losing battle against nature is revealed by its warped and broken planks and beams, and the creep of colors near the waterline. The water shows several shades of blue and is almost completely still with intact reflections of the boat and the wharf; there are some ripples on the surface. In the immediate foreground are colorful rocks and grass. Overall, it is a peaceful scene.

This watercolour paintings shows two cockatiels, gazing at the viewer while perched on a wooden pole. Their tail feathers are tangling below. The male (Andy) on the left has bright yellow plumage with an orange-red cheek, while female (Meadow) on the right is gray coloured with the subdued plumage typical of the females of this species. The background is a splash of blue.

This painting features a 4 x 4 inch post of pressure-treated wood that has probably escaped from a wharf, and is now fighting a losing battle against nature in a rocky intertidal zone. Its rotting surface has created multiple contrasts of textures, colors, and other elements. The wood is now home to a multitude of periwinkle sea snails or winkles (Littorina littorea) that are clinging to its surface. To the left, jutting out of a split in the post, is a cluster of golden spindles fungus (Clavulinopsis fusiformis), a jelly fungus that thrives on decaying hardwood. To the right is a multicolored (yellow, orange, blue, purple, and green) mass of seaweed, despite its name being common brown seaweed (Fucus vesiculosus). This seaweed is also called bladderwrack or sea grapes to acknowledge the air-filled bladders or spheres that keep it afloat. When drying out on a shoreline like this, the seaweed provides a canopy that protects other smaller organisms.

My newest watercolour painting "Shore Life" depicts a 4x4 post of pressure treated wood that is losing a battle against the elements. It's become a home for abundant sea life along a rocky shore in #Newfoundland

This watercolor painting shows waterfall split in two by a large rock. The waterfall is flanked on either side by lush greenery. At the bottom, the water spills, splashes, and foams around the surrounding rocks. The sky is bright blue with white clouds.

The cover of the textbook shows four paintings of mine, including a pregnant woman contemplating her baby in the womb; a toddler enjoying a book about what to expect during the toddler years; a newborn having her first bath; and a breastfeeding woman with her baby.

I'm delighted to announce publication of the 2nd edition of a textbook I conceived and edited. Some 120 authors, 55 chapters, and 2 essays examine endocrine physiology and diseases during pregnancy, lactation, and fetal development. My 4 paintings adorn the cover.

This is a watercolor painting of Aspen in her element: traipsing through cold snow near sunset in the backyard on Three Island Pond, abruptly halting as she spots bunnies to be stalked and chased. There’s a colorful red-orange-blue sky with a fiery white-and-yellow sunset at the waterline, tall evergreens in silhouette, a frozen lake reflecting the sunset, and three rabbits near the shore on alert as the husky-like dog Aspen has just paused, assessing the scene before beginning to stalk her prey. I like to think this is Aspen in dog heaven, unleashed in snow, and now possessing a top speed to reach the bunnies at last. You go, girl!

Just before midnight on July 29, 2025, this historic and colorful fishing stage, plus the smaller pair to the left, and the accompanying wharves, all burned down to the water. Firefighters had no access to these structures by road, and no ability to fight the fire from the water.
