The people who got priced out and left WERE the soul of the place. Now, without them, it is soulless. Big Tech did that.
Last night, we successfully rescued the Wizzo (WSO/Weapons Systems Officer) who was separated from the pilot. Armed with only a pistol for self-defense, he remained missing as we exfiltrated the pilot just 6 hrs post ejection, while the WSO remained missing.

Big Tech reshaped everywhere—but unevenly. In places with deep cultural roots like SF, it hollowed something real out. In most other cities, there wasn’t as much culture to lose, so it feels more like a continuation of what was already there: a soulless hellscape.

If we consider it a public good, everyone should access it for free. A developed country is not where everyone has a car, but where the rich use public transportation.
Previous presidents were creatures of money and corporate power, but they weren’t true oligarchs. Trump is: he doesn’t just serve the system, he embodies a small ruling caste that treats the state as its private asset.

I think this makes the White House a legitimate military target now.
Do not separate them!
Beautiful day today here in Oregon!
I am not on the “no kings” protesters’ side, but this was a good one. I am a moderate social libertarian. I think gov’t should be bound by two linked guardrails: leave people alone (individual rights & autonomy), and don’t use force/coercion except to stop someone from violating another’s autonomy.

I don’t know. It was a joke.
It was your 'turn' lol

Bezos didn’t just buy WaPo to “save journalism.” He bought a uniquely powerful D.C. institution he thought could be fixed w/ tech + capital, gained major soft power, and then vanished—leaving WaPo strategically adrift, losing readers, and mired in an identity and leadership crisis.

Overall claim: China is incurring no costs while gaining access to cheaper energy, strategic intelligence, supply chain leverage, and progress toward a non-dollar financial system—positioning it as the “silent winner” of the conflict.

Just discovered the “Lincoln Project” and it’s hilarious. A bunch of ex-Republican operatives invoking a wartime tyrant who suspended habeas corpus, jailed citizens, and ducked a treason trial he might lose as their mascot for “defending democracy.”

The whole “gift” thing from #Iran had me puzzled. I was like… wait a minute—we’re actively bombing these people, and
@realdonaldtrumppar.bsky.social would like to accept a “gift” from them? That doesn’t exactly pass the smell test. Feels a bit like the Trojan Horse in the Odyssey?!? #IranWar
Hypergamy and prostitution sit on the same spectrum of sexual‑economic exchange: one is a long‑term, socially sanctified contract where women trade beauty, youth, and care for male status and resources; the other is a short‑term, openly priced version of it, but stripped of the fairy‑tale packaging.

One of my favorite thinkers, Michael Pollan, the food‑systems and psychedelics writer, does a tight hit here, pushing back on R.F.K. Jr.’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ food‑as-vaccine fantasy, saying, ‘Eating real food is not going to protect you from the measles.’
No one cares what she has to say. We only care about winners, and he is the only winner in the story, not her.
Per the New York Times, #ICE Agent Jonathan Ross, who murdered #ReneeGood, was not taken to the hospital, according to police reports. He was taken to the Federal Building. He was *NOT* injured.
ICE has been doing things to US citizens, and losing the cases when the US citizens sue. #ICE has zero jurisdiction over US citizens, which is why they are going to lose when the #ReneeGood estate sues them.

A watercolour from 1999 showing Bridge Street in Cambridge going up to Magdalene bridge over the Cam.
Another old Cambridge street watercolour, done sitting on the low wall at the front of St John's. This is Bridge Street with autumn coming on. Someone wearing a gown is cycing along. Sold a while ago and scanned from a film photo of the original.
