Books Read in June 2025 I made it through my 6-hour exam (hooray!), so I now turn my attention back to books I have read somewhat recently. Unnatural Death, by Dorothy Sayers Published 1927 At dinner one evening, Lord Pet…

I’m still reading books and talking about them. Due to taking a professional exam, what I read in June is a bit late, but better late than never. austinfey.com/2025/07/17/b...

Books Read in May 2025 Sorry this is so late! I have been studying hard for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® exam, which I am sitting for in July, so other efforts have fallen by the wayside. However, here are two books …

Still over here reading books (especially older ones):

Books Read in April 2025 The Sabbath, by Abraham Joshua Heschel  Published 1951 This is a book I’ve heard referenced several times, often by people who seem pretty smart/ able to handle academic treatises well, so I a…

It’s late, but I read two nonfiction books in April and the interaction between them was really something: austinfey.com/2025/05/20/b...

Not shown: the scratches from the thorns he’s about to walk through, sunburn on that pasty white skin, or all the insect bites he’s definitely getting.
Still incredible picture. So many questions.

“Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.”

As a morning person, I prefer standard time, but honestly what I’d prefer even more is to NEVER faff around with changing my clocks and walking around for two weeks a year in a confused, sleep-deprived stupor. So I support you.

It’s so horrible and maddening to see it all laid out like this. The grift and theft and selling the US government like this is infuriating.

Jesus fed the 5,000, but the people of God can't fill the chasm left by USAID (RNS) — Stop pretending that well-meaning Christians can take over where USAID left off.

Destroying USAID is shameful.

How the Trump-Zelensky Oval Office meeting spiraled into chaos White House officials were expecting a positive meeting and said they had little reason to anticipate animosity before things deteriorated.

Best I can tell from this, the deal fell through because Vance got his feelings hurt. Gift article -

Books Read in January 2025 After a slower year of reading in 2024 (due to taking classes + work stress), I am hoping to read more this year. Here are the four books I read and finished in January: Spark of the Everflame, by …

Just here to say that the portmanteau “broligarchs” made me chuckle (while the current political situation does the opposite). Bonus points to you or whoever wrote the headline.

Is This the End of USAID? - Christianity Today Christian partners around the world—suddenly fired, defunded, and without answers—worry that the new administration is done with the development agency.

“USAID supplies say on the outside, ‘From the American people,’ so people know where aid is coming from. Now they’ll know who is at fault for stopping it too.”

Petty complaint: I hate that all the “favorites of 2024” posts/ Spotify year wrapped, etc. come out now. It’s early December! I still have 27 days left! It’s not over till it’s over.

I want all those lists in January when the decorations are down and I need something to look forward to.

I’m Austin, I am not good at cutting with scissors.

(Maybe not the *worst* feedback, but the most cutting—sorry not sorry the pun was right there)

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of recommending a book to a friend and then getting a text that they are enjoying it! The triumph, the delight.

I like listening to instrumental soundtracks when I’m doing work that requires thinking. If I listen to music with lyrics I start focusing on the lyrics.
I like Lord of the Rings, the Harry Potter soundtracks, and loads of soundtracks from period pice movies and tv shows are great too.

Just thinking about trickle-down economics and how it doesn’t account enough for human greed. “A rising tide lifts all boats” only if the tide reaches the lower boats.

So you know, just another Thursday over here.

Love it! We don’t need another “women ages 18-25 study Bible,” we need versions like this that make the Bible more accessible to people.
