screenshot of text from Adam Serwer in The Atlantic: "The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they're the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive - because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about "Western civilization," while armed brutes try to tear it down by force."

There’s no ‘Act 2’ in hip hop. The acting route is finicky at best. Swapping genres is nearly nonexistent. Unlike, say, Al Green, the audience that joined you on your outlaw journey won’t then follow you to the pulpit.

Why Target wanted to chase the folks who shop at Hobby-Lobby, I’ll never know.

The NfL is much better off when the usual legacy teams are at or near the top. The old hands in Dallas, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and now New England all know how to win without falling in love with the smell of their own filth. Put differently, the Chiefs were ‘new money.’ Glad it’s all over now.

I strongly suspect that immediately after the bigwigs at Disney see the first wave of inappropriate SORA content featuring Elsa, Anna, and Sven, they’ll call Sam Altman and scrap the whole agreement.

The David Ellison temper tantrum makes me think of how often Dan Shaughnessy, sportswriter for the Boston Globe, would refer to Paul Gaston, son of the owner of the Celtics at the time, as ‘Thanks, Dad.’

One of the highlights of working on a Warner Bros. Studio Tour Project a few years ago was meeting Cass Warner Sperling. If she were still with us, I’m sure she’d have thoughts.

The only way to make that Troy Ruhanen quote more sinister than it already is— “Winning at Cannes is one thing. Winning in the market is another”—is to say it out loud while trying to sound like Tom Hardy’s Bane from The Dark Knight Rises.

Yeah, that tracks.

Both things can be true at once, of course. But it’s a bad look all around.

DDB was crowned agency network of the year at Cannes two years ago and now it’s all gone. Ditto FCB which came in third. Either the holding companies don’t care about creativity as much as they profess to or Cannes is not representative of what’s resonating with the business community or consumers.

I don't feel too bad about MullenLowe disappearing from the face of the earth. Had one of the most disrespectful interviews of my career in the Boston office. Good riddance.

No question now that Sweeney and the CMO of American Eagle made their genetics themed gene ad for people who think Haitians eat house pets.

The electoral success of a certain mayoral candidate in New York will lead to a run on broadcast campaign spots in 2026 that match the look, feel, and pacing of YouTube influencer videos. Kai Cenat > Hal Riney. It won’t work for every candidate but that won’t stop nearly every candidate from trying.

Brands have data. Lots of data.
More data than you might think is reasonable about who buys the products they push. The people in the ads are highly likely to be representative of the folks buying the products. That’s it. That’s the ball game.

Glad to see all the energy out there in defense of electoral democracy.

Would have been nice to see it last year around this time when the black lady was running for President.

Regarding creepy internet copy that just gets taken for granted, I’d argue that “Verify You Are Human” is ten times worse than ‘You Have a New Memory.’
