I can honestly say I’ve never looked at another human and thought ‘I want to hit that person until they defecate’.
Until now.

Would love to slide you a DM on this. 10 years this year since I started periodic Keto phases to help with weight control and health.
* We did a half and half stream with this and MKW, and since most of the MKW stream was spent comparing it to 8… let’s just stick with 8. 😂
Last weekends Mario Kart stream was a *lot* of fun. A HELL of a lot of fun. So let’s do it again, this Sunday 26th April from 2pm. A Sunday Speedway with friends on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe*! Got a copy? Got a Switch or Switch 2? You’re welcome to drop on in and join the races.

I’m not gonna sit here and say you have an agenda or whatever (too old, too tired), but I hope we can agree that any impact/fallout of this will land far outside of the people deciding it’s law, people who are in the same positions that pushed us there in the first place. That’s my big issue.
With regards to ‘Edtech’, in the example of my former workplace everything in place for student devices is either standard (Microsoft 365), open source (ie Moodle) or home developed (MIS systems) and integrated into one of the former. So there’s not going to be a magical money or time saver there.
The semi accurate cliche of ‘the plural of anecdote is not data’ comes to mind. It’s working for you and that’s cool! That is a singular example. How big is year 7? How big are class sizes? Campus size? All of these things can play an active role in assessing success and validity of a process.
keep coming back to this to see if there's been any movement on the dial. Fascinating given up until this point there had been rumblings of them already moving to do a US vs UK special at some point in the future.
They never specify the size of the needle... so whilst getting up there would be a bugger, shitting through the eye of this would be relatively easy.
I also don't think it becoming law is going to stop SLT/Teachers being the outlets for frustrations of parents or students. They don't have access to Westminster, but they do have access to Teachers, Pastoral and SLT teams. It'll likely get a lot worse before it stands a chance of getting better.
I think of where they came from. It wasn't the SLT, although they were the messengers. It was the LEA, DfE, and various gov and gov associated grants and initiatives, across multiple leaders and parties. Is support (fiscal or otherwise) going to be there to roll all of this back? I'd wager not.
Now a large part of it will have to be rolled back, modified or reset, probably with little notice.
When I think of all the initiatives, deployments and developments that pushed us towards this increase of tech dependence for students, using their own devices and such
When I left, the 16+ college I worked at was say... 2/3rds of the way through moving to digital platforms for a lot of pastoral tasks. Student services, timetable management, comms (Office 365) and support for BYOD. I know from contacts I've maintained that this has only continued and grown.
Jumping in briefly to put away the 'joystick jokes' hat and putting on my 'worked in education in IT for 15+ years' hat. I'm out of it now, moved sectors in 2018, and very happy about that precisely because of changes like these.

Found it in a charity shop, and failed to read it for 6 months or so. Last weekend I finally stopped failing to read it!

A great listen. Will be revisiting them as I continue to mulch my way through this book.

This will be later today! Assuming the Elizabeth line doesn’t assplode like all the other trains seem to have today.
-Ash
It wouldn’t be so bad if the book itself didn’t suffer from similar editorial problems.
I am persevering out of stubbornness and wanting to know the info within it, but good gods. It’s a struggle.

I am listening to an audiobook atm that is hands down one of the worst produced I’ve ever heard. I do not believe anyone listened to this all the way through before it went live. Excessive silence trims, at least a solid minutes of the author flubbing the same line, background sounds…
I’ve also got a lot of love for the rider franchise and the two Akibaranger runs, which are definitely *not* for kids. 😂
Have watched a bunch of the Sentai series either partially or completely including Zyuranger, Dairanger, ToQger, Lupin/Patranger, Gokaiger, and probably some others I’ve forgotten. Started Boonboomger last year but fell off a bit due to lack of time (subbed shows don’t work for me as second screen)
I’ve been digging back into the MK newsgroups from 95/96 for contemporary fan opinions. Apparently a lot of those opinions involve each others mothers, their sexuality or them being felines.
Boy howdy the good old days of the internet!

Kidding.
For vanilla MK3 ‘back in the day’, I seem to remember gravitating towards Kabal, or Cyrax/Sektor.
Stryker.
Appreciate you taking that bullet.
I spent my morning writing about Mortal Kombat 3 with episodes of the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers on in the background.
I feel I might have had an easier time?
