In the US, it’s National Library Workers’ Day, and I would be remiss to let it pass without reminding you that the “library workers are magic” narrative leads bad places. Love, respect, and cherish them, but also pay them, staff libraries appropriately, and let them draw boundaries.

So the migraine did in fact keep me from going to work but only because it was very very very very very very painful. Finally caved and took my last triptan and the pain is finally subsiding a little. I'm already tired today lol.
I want to put something in perspective for you all. I'm an American, born and raised. There are some states in this "free" country where I just can't go. If I do, I could be charged with a crime for the simple act of using the bathroom. Driving a car or, in some cases, being seen in public.

If we're going to get people to continue using our libraries at all, we have to meet them where they are at, wherever they are. Or they will just buy all their books, or just not read. If Libby is part of a public good then our library budgets should reflect that as it's what the community wants
Yeah but each check out also gives them stats that gives them more money from the gov to run it.
I would bet money that at some libraries twice as many people use something like libby instead of going into the actual branch. Most people I know don't even know where the library is located.
I'm at the point of being an adult where I don't think changing my hair is gonna change how I think about my predicaments. It's tragic really.

For context there is a volunteer think tank literally making the universal healthcare plan for Oregon. Because we actually voted to make one. But I've seen NONE of my senators or senators in Oregon supporting it.
I wish our senators actually advertised that they supported the ACTIVE UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE initiative and the volunteer council making the legislation currently with public input. That'd be nice.

Gender should literally just be a common thing that people *should* examine in order to have a fullness of life, even if nothing massively changes. It should be as common as developing a fashion style or a music taste. Deconstruction of societal imprint, no matter how “far” you go, is freedom.
