The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

When I see an asshole with a Cybertruck illegally parked in front of a school, I run the plates on that dickwagon. What a surprise: 14 school zone speeding tickets and two red light tickets in 2025!

one of the most memorable experiences I had in college was asking my organic chemistry professor a question and him saying "I don't know - let's find out!" and then talking me through a lab experiment.

DHS Is Considering Reality Show Where Immigrants Compete for Citizenship “This isn’t ‘The Hunger Games’ for immigrants,” says the producer behind the pitch.

Is The Onion publishing under a pseudonym of WSJ or is the WSJ publishing stories that should be in The Onion?? 🤦‍♂️

Whitewashing American history The Trump Presidency as a project of erasure

After I published this piece I went on PBS to explain what was happening. Clear and simple explanations about the details of what the Trump administration do matter, because most people are appalled by what is happening.

75% of US scientists who answered Nature poll consider leaving More than 1,600 readers answered our poll; many said they were looking for jobs in Europe and Canada.

The destruction of American science continues apace. Early career people are the most likely to be seeking to leave. One of my about-to-graduate PhDs is seriously considering a job offer in Germany, even though it would involve lower pay. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Also worth noting that Welch only deployed that famous line because McCarthy broke an agreement not to publicly smear an employee of that same big law firm (Hale and Dorr).

If Welch hadn’t stood up for his junior colleague, we wouldn’t have that turning point for McCarthyism.

I question the comparison to Trump. Over the past several years corporate media bent over backwards to normalize him while good journalists were screaming from the rafters about what was happening. This time around the media didn’t miss the rise of a tyrant, its willful ignorance at best.

Dozens of Clinical Trials Have Been Frozen in Response to Trump’s USAID Order The stop-work order on U.S.A.I.D.-funded research has left thousands of people with experimental drugs and devices in their bodies, with no access to monitoring or care.

This is evil.

So weird how the media's fixation on grocery prices generally, and egg prices specifically, magically disappeared on January 20, 2025. 🤔

A Lab Just 3D-Printed a Neural Network of Living Brain Cells Mini-brains that work and grow like their full-size counterparts could offer an alternative to animal testing and advance the quest for personalized medicine.

Fascinating and scary use of 3D printing. Printing live neural networks created from brain cells that potentially ends up with a consciousness. Article has no mention or discussion of any moral or ethical considerations in creating a consciousness.

For Bluesky to thrive, it needs sex workers and Black Twitter If Bluesky wants to be a genuine rival to Twitter, it needs to protect sex workers and its Black community.

Our first skeet is the way Jack Dorsey probably intended it — with unsolicited advice and an external link to our reporting. Since Bluesky is in its early days, @morgansung.bsky.social’s advice is vital if it’s going to thrive: protect the marginalized communities that shape this platform’s culture

After the twit exodus it’s been fascinating watching people publicly try on different experiences searching for the right blend/balance of culture, conduct & capability. It’s like a massive online charrette to include the most broad and diverse perspectives.
