When I renewed my National Board Teacher Certification in 2021 we celebrated with a virtual Pinning Ceremony. This year we will celebrate in person.

It is almost time for the Prince Georges County Public Schools 19th Annual National Board Certification Teacher Pinning Ceremony. We are looking forward to over 150 new and 31 maintaining NBCTs receiving their pins.

Today was a really great day of learning. MSEA offered four conference in one. I had the opportunity to speak with Teachers about National Board, next I presented on Honoring Student Identities Through Literacy Instruction, then I enjoyed a few other sessions. #PGCEA #MSEA #literacy #NBCT
Today Talitha and I presented at the the MSEA Mega conference. Our session -HONORING STUDENT IDENTITIES THROUGH LITERACY INSTRUCTION Integrated students' cultural backgrounds, experiences, and interests into literacy instruction by using diverse texts that reflect student identities.

Maryland teachers just made history.
In 2025, 1,435 Maryland educators earned National Board Certification, making Maryland the #1 state in the country for new NBCTs 🙌🏽. 152 of those new NBCTs are #PGCPSNBCTs. Congratulations to our new and maintaining NBCTs.

As #NBCTWeek comes to an end, I want to encourage educators to learn about National Board Certification.
#NBCT is the best certification you can ever undertake; pushing you to understand why you do what you do as a teacher.
Happy #NBCTWeek2026. This year I celebrate 15 years as a #NBCT. I made the decision to pursue certification in 2009. Unfortunately, I did not certify the first time. But I didn’t let 4 points stop me. I keep going and achieved. #NBPTS
To candidates waiting on your NB scores, know that no matter what that score report says you are an outstanding educator who has attempted a challenging process.
For those that see 🎆 CONGRATULATIONS. 🎉
For those that feel the sting of NY, know not yet does not mean not ever.

I has an awesome time presenting Language Learning and Inclusion through Multicultural Picture Books at the TESOL conference. I presented during the last session of the day and still managed to have an amazing group of educators join my session.
I enjoyed the opportunity to presented Navigating the @pgcps Curriculum to 25 conditional educators. These teachers are excited to learn pedagogy and we are ecstatic they have joined the PGCPS team!
🧘🏾♀️ Day 2 of MSEA National Board Certification Summer Jump Start was informative & exciting! To focus, we started with yoga led by Andrea Burrell. Then we dug into the components.
Serving as a trainer with @MSEAeducators as a Jump Start facilitator. We train teachers across Maryland three times a year reflection and immersive learning.@NBPTS Looking forward to the journey. 🙌🏽 #PGCPSNBCT #NBCTStrong @MSEAeducators #MSEA
