There really is no such thing as race. We all came from Africa. We are all of the same stardust. We are all going to live and die on the same planet, a Pale Blue Dot in the vastness of space. We have to work together.

That's been the GOP playbook for decades now. Liars, charlatans, hypocrites. That's what they are. You could probably write a book on it with that title and everyone would be able to judge the book by its cover.

Disillusionment to Hope I grew up believing in the inherent goodness of people.

I'm sat in a pub garden, in a quiet stereotypical English town all by myself. Took the time to finish off something I started writing a while ago. I hope it resonates with others.

Yep, great point. They should at most only get what they are able to provide for other Americans

It's a point that needs to be made loudly and more often. If you take Russia's money do you think Russia is paying you because it's good for your country? Or good for them? A country we're basically at war with.

Taking Russia's money is treason and should be treated as such.

There's been a really bad habit entrench itself of not wanting to drag cases through the courts because it's embarrassing nationally. That attitude needs to change. I will be very proud if everyone on Russia's payroll goes to jail, not just a patsy like Nathan Gill.

If you look up “Roger Scruton Foundation Memorial Lectures,” the first lecture posted on RSLF’s website is a 2023 lecture by Peter Thiel (JD Vance’s mentor and benefactor).

Europe has a massive problem with unpunished treason.

It should never be acceptable that politicians and influencers are allowed to push Russian interests and act as foreign assets.

We must get much better at prosecuting those who betray our security

“Part of the mentality of these folks is that they present themselves as victims”

Nicely overlaps with American Christians.

There's just a right wing problem.

Explain how these two statements can co-exist?

- More people than ever will vote for Reform UK in the local elections.

- More people, in hindsight, realise leaving the EU was a mistake.

I'm hoping as things progress in Hungary we're going to find out lots more about the networks in our own countries and take seriously the measures needed to stop them and protect ourselves in future.

I read that link and I got the feeling that Hegseth wasnt passing it off as a genuine quote
The implications are scarier than if he didnt know it was from a film. It means theyre happy to make up their own Bible and quotes (as Christian nationalism and prosperity doctrine do) no regard for accuracy.

Hundreds of people should not be facing potential terrorism charges simply for holding placards, especially after a court ruling that the proscription of the organisation they were supporting is unlawful. That's not how democracy is supposed to work.

What a bizarre, and frankly worrying, opinion for anyone to have.

If they get it done now under Trump then it'll be a fait accompli if we ever get back to decency in international affairs and almost impossible to undo.

Perhaps we're offended by his arrogance, his lack of respect, his ego, and the fact that he's clearly as mad as a brush and should have been taken out of office in a straightjacket a long long time ago.

I've just finished reading Bart D. Ehrman's fantastic "How Jesus Became God", I highly recommend it to anyone, but my god, reading the contorted, convoluted theological arguments the early Christians wrapped themselves up in is enough to convince anyone of the madness of organised religion.

I’ve been investigating how the British state is helping the oil industry shield its record war profits from taxes worldwide. Here are some of the things I’ve found 🧵:

1) Britain is a tax haven itself. Unlike other countries, we don’t tax dividends directly when they’re paid.

I can't wait for the Neo-Schism.
Some Americans (apologies to any reading), are arrogant enough to think they're entitled to their own Pope who says what they already like.

What incentives can there be to use more energy other than just cutting the costs drastically? And changing the market pricing system so it's not set by the price of gas?
