Let me tell you, when the leader of the most powerful country on earth says he’s going to wipe out your family’s entire civilisation, it makes it very hard to concentrate on making a videogame magazine.

Nah I think you’ll have a good time! I mean, it’s visually spectacular in that it’s the highest fidelity these characters and the things referenced in the film have ever been rendered. The artists and vis devs clearly absolutely adore the source material.

But it’s just not a great film.

A full-page spread from Issue 5 of A Profound Waste of Time from an article about the VMU. A pull quote from Kaenji Tosaki says "The worlds of games on the Dreamcast, carried from your home out into the rest of your life. That is the communication we dreamed of for the VMU." A large illustration, wrapped in the body text, shows a clay-styled character walking across a bridge with a Chao at its side, engrossed in a VMU, while a thought bubble depicts the Chao Garden from Sonic Adventure.

If you squint, you might remember that brief moment when it seemed like iOS games were going to change the industry for the better.

Is there a database that chronicles games events around the world? Everything from GDC to small indie meet-ups?

It’s Persian new year.

The last couple of weeks have been very unsettling. It’s hard to know what to do, or even concentrate at all. There’s no handbook for this stuff.

Honestly think my best memories of the WiiU were with Nintendo Land. I really loved the art design and how tactile everything felt.
