There’s still work ahead - but today is a huge step forward for Birnbeck Pier and for Weston.
Birnbeck is one of the most iconic parts of Weston-super-Mare. It’s part of our heritage, identity, and future. It's great to see our government investing in our town after years of being underestimated.
£19 Million secured!!🎉
That's the amount I have secured for the final phases of the Birnbeck Pier - this money will fund the restoration of the Clock Tower 🕰️, North Jetty and the Boat House 🚣♂️, with exhibitions, hospitality venues, and a space for skills training.
I don’t make the final decisions, but we do have real influence over those who do.

Small businesses are the backbone of Weston’s economy, and I’m doing all I can to stand up for them. 💼
In December, I was appointed to the Business and Trade Committee, where I work cross-party to scrutinise government policy and make recommendations.
I will be working with them to make this happen.
While M&S isn’t returning to the High Street, they do see Weston as a strong place to invest. This isn’t about chasing brand names, it’s about what local people want and need.
