Beat Instrumental! As a teenager in Southport in the 1970s I devoured copies of this with its mythical tales of Coloursound Tonebenders, Hagstrom Vikings and Carlsboro Hornets. This looks brilliant Chris, I’ll tell all my friends.

INVENTORY: AN UNRELIABLE GUIDE TO MY RECORD COLLECTION by Andy Miller
A new instalment of INVENTORY is available now via the @backlisted.bsky.social Patreon.
This week: Distant Sun by Crowded House. And if you don't like Crowded House, you can stuff it up your arse for nothing and fuck off while you're doing it.

Brilliant this Andy. Thank you. No doubt in my mind that Neil’s genius is taken for granted. Also, CH one of the best live bands ever, which it also seems isn’t recognised enough. Couple of my mates in NZ seeing the Enz in May. I’m not at all jealous.
This is not just marketing. This is Macca Marketing.
I must say, receiving a WhatsApp from the lad himself just now was a bit of a shock 😉
I have often said that a Beatles/stones book told via the ‘muses’ would be a brilliant idea - but needed a women to write it. Looking forward to this!

Clean this mess up else we’ll all end up in jail
Boss! Just booked tickets, thanks!
Brilliant, thanks. Hopefully one somewhere in NW England too at some point 🤞
Any plans for screenings in other towns Samira?
The building where I used to work had that playlist on in the lobby. Every single day.
Thanks so much for coming to Manchester Ron, I loved your set and thought Nora was great too. All the best to all of you for the rest of your tour.
That’s terribly sad news. I remember seeing Max Webster in Liverpool in 1979 and thought they were great. “Sun Voices” is one of my all time favourites.
Do the rumours include any suggestion that Tarney removed any evidence of the influence of Todd Rundgren?
This was fun to do, and genuinely made me re-think my opinion on an often overlooked song.
Repost far and wide!
❤️
Thanks very much.
Is this the same talk as the one you’re doing this Wednesday night? Just deciding whether to go to one or both!
Happy new year Chris!!
YES! Let ‘Em In did it for me too, for very similar reasons, childhood memories of hearing it on the radio, as well as the song’s message and the line “Uncle Ernie and Auntie Gin”.
@eggpod.bsky.social @ttcartney.bsky.social thanks so much to both of you! I know what we’ll be playing for our guests on Christmas Day now😊
I loved the mashup before the 14/12 Manchester show. It would be great if it was available to listen to after the tour. Any idea who assembled it Chris?
Hope you have a fabulous time Chris. Manchester was glorious. Hope you’re in good singing voice!
There were so many of those moments last night! It was glorious from start to finish.
This is brilliant .. seemingly Karaoke was invented in the town next to where I was born .. Stockport. Definitely one for you @groomb.bsky.social .. 'Made in Manchester' (although it may still have been in Cheshire then?)

May I suggest Todd Rundgren’s run of albums between 70-74 Chris? After that his quality control starts to slip IMHO but I love his initial period.
