On the eve of Easter, 182 Ukrainians returned home from Russian captivity
A key feature of this exchange is that the vast majority of those released had been held in captivity since 2022

Not the whole world. Some of us were still thinking of Ukraine.
Everyone needs to stop what they’re doing and watch this video.
“It seems like there’s a lack of diversity here today, and it’s mostly people who look like you and me, and I just…?”

Superb reporting by Jeremy Bowen on #Ukraine

If you can find 15 minutes today, please read this piece by @adamserwer.bsky.social in @theatlantic.com. This is one of the best, most human accounts on the rising authoritarianism in the US, and even more importantly, the steely resistance rising up against it in Minnesota.
Breathtakingly good.

It's been a bit quiet lately when it should be picking up for Christmas.
If you're shopping for gifts, have a look at what I do.
Everything I make is designed here in Manchester and manufactured in the UK.

What the husband @mjowen174.bsky.social says is true.
It’s been a bit quiet in my shop lately.

A repost would be lovely too.

'Branch Hill Pond, Hampstead.' In the summer of 1821, John Constable began making direct studies in the open air of cloud formations. These were mostly made from the high ground at Hampstead village - an ideal observation point.
I've read this story five times and I literally do not know what it is trying to say.

You weren't the only one. I'm now putting in a complaint to the Beeb.

That would be the same Jeremy Bowen whose pertinent analysis of the situation was rudely interrupted on Radio 4 this morning because the presenter thought the listeners would prefer to know that Trump was walking down the steps of Air Force One.
I turned it off at that moment too. How bizarre on a radio programme to interrupt the analysis of a respected journalist so we can "listen" to a man walking down a flight of steps.... Surreal moment.
Heaven knows!
Lol. I had my own monitor and kept the co2 under 800ppm at all times, even in the depths of winter. 🥶
In fact, thinking back to the first year, we had the pupils lining up to have a squirt of hand gel before entering the classroom, and we were not allowed to take ex books in for marking... There was some protocol about leaving them in a safe place for 24hrs...🤷♀️
Yes, just two. The headteacher put one in science and offered the second one to me as she knew I was "into airflow" (her words... Admittedly, my pupils all complained about the permanent gale blowing through my classroom).
And then the department for education (UK) provided schools with CO2 monitors so we could assess airflow. They helpfully provided my school with 2 of these monitors (for a school of 900+ pupils).
I had a line of black tape on the floor at the front of my classroom and no pupils were allowed to cross line. Apparently that made things "safe" for me....
I remember that all too well: masks in the corridors at lesson changeover, but not in the classrooms....🤷♀️
I must remember to do this next time. Until now, I have simply not dried my hands if a Dyson dryer is all that is on offer.
@irishrainforest.bsky.social Good to see you on Arte this morning.
News judgements are failing at The Guardian: I am astonished that on the home page of its website this morning, there is no mention of the Ballymena troubles and the need for Northern Ireland to ask UK police forces to send reinforcements.
The same shirt in the same size (116 fits 5-6 yr olds), but one for boys and one for girls. Look at the difference. No wonder even young girls develop issues with body weight and size...
