Control of lysosome function by the GTPase-activating protein TBC1D9B and its binding partner TMEM55B - Nature Communications Lysosome positioning is essential for cell metabolism and stress responses. Here, the authors show that the TMEM55B-associated protein TBC1D9B controls lysosome positioning, autophagy, and starvation-...

Another bump for the postdoc and PhD positions still open at the center and postdoc specifically within my group (same link to apply). We’re looking for wet/dry lab, and I’m specifically after people who do magic with computers!

Reminder: our postdoc and PhD positions are still open. We work across different areas (wet and dry lab), but I am especially after people with a computational biology, bioinformatics, pytorch whisperer kind of background. Protein design and OpenFold/AF also counts.

This cover highlights the article ZBTB48 is a priming factor regulating B-cell-specific CIITA expression by Grishma Rane, Dennis Kappei and colleagues. The study identifies how ZBTB48, represented as pangolins, binds to two distinct binding sites at the B-cell-specific promoter of CIITA, the master regulator of the MHC-II immune gene expression program, to activate the CIITA "switchboard" and initiate CIITA expression. This in turn causes expression of MHC-II molecules, antigen-presenting complexes at the cell surface, here represented by illumination of the iconic supertrees found in Singapore's Gardens by the Bay.

Tumor‐Expressed SPPL3 Supports Innate Antitumor Immune Responses Tumor and immune cells interact through receptor–ligand interactions. B3GNT5 produces nsGSL on tumor cells which is regulated by SPPL3. When SPPL3 is absent, elevated nsGSL levels hinder receptor–lig...

Interesting paper by Verkerk et al. further supporting that loss of #SPPL3 can lead to tumour immune evasion.

GOLPH3 and GOLPH3L maintain Golgi localization of LYSET and a functional mannose 6-phosphate transport pathway

Out now in The EMBO Journal: Our collaborative new #Golgi #glycotime story, which shows (i) that B4GALT5, a Golgi enzyme, is subject to M6P tagging and (ii) that GOLPH3/GOLPH3L stabilize LYSET and the GlcNAc-phosphotranferase complex and thus are crucial to cellular M6P tagging. tinyurl.com/jkv26nhh
