So, is the conclusion that no one should perform statistical inference? 😅

there’s a peer-reviewed article on how professors who bring students baked goods get higher evaluation scores. my colleague would bring this article & homemade cookies to class the day students filled evals out, tell them evals aren’t effective measures of teaching, then leave them to it.

tb to a micro (econ) prof who gave a quiz that boiled down to finding the solution to (something like) xe^x =1, and *everyone* lost their mind trying to solve it instead of just stating that the 'desired solution' was obtained from just saying 'xe^x =1'

The sidewalk is so icy that even the precaution bars are falling

Benito carrying a football with musicians carrying flags behind him

Benito carrying a football with musicians carrying flags behind him

Iconic moment as he says "God Bless América" and then names every country in South, Central, and North america in order

For the rest of the hemisphere, América doesn't mean the U.S.

It means evveeerrybody

To counter my tendency to factor my code in a million different functions, I have configured my editor to gradually reduce the font of each function I create, until they become so hard to read I have to give up. I call that:

It’s really easy to make an academic website with GitHub:

(1) Find a template & fork it
github.com/topics/acade...

(2) Add your info (often just markdown). All you need is (short!) bio, contact info, CV, and your paper(s) or posters.

(3) Host for free with GitHub
docs.github.com/en/pages/qui...

Seeing an influencer bring up an old video of them calling out something, gives me the same vibe of professors mentioning papers they have co-authored

Seems unfair that you only get to use the bouncy slide to get off a plane when things have gone wrong. The bouncy slide should be a treat they give to the best passengers who did the flight correctly.
