Plenty of politicians on both sides of the aisle feel threatened by rising class consciousness.

I believe it was the late 20th century philosopher Ned Schneebly who masterfully argued "Those who can, do, those who can't, teach, and those who can't teach, teach gym."

Democrats are the new Whig Party. We say there is a "Moderate" and "Progressive" caucus, but the "moderates" continue to demand Conservatism. These Conservative Democrats have stolen the party and any goodwill built by Progressives, hollowing out our big wins. It's time for a new Party.

I literally never said they were the same. I said a huge amount of Democrats agree politically and economically with Republicans, but are too socially empathetic to support them. Fortunately for those Democrats, there are Dems who work hard to help people, and they can just ride those coattails.

Uhm, okay? My point is that the core values of many Democrats more closely align with the Republican Party, but that party's vehement racism and homophobia push them away. AOC worked with Gaetz, that doesn't mean she would be a Republican if the party softened their stances.

There are a huge number of Democrats who would be Republicans if Republicans were just a little cooler about black and queer people.

If people in 2018 were given the right to vote the minimum wage in Michigan would be $13.48, and adjust every October with inflation. The cities of East Lansing and Lansing are currently under charter review. We should fight for higher minimum wages, RCV, housing equity, and the entire DSA platform.

leaving the cruelty aside for just a minute it's absolutely humiliating to imagine being my age or older and getting excited because you think you've been given permission to say a bad word. what are you gonna do next, ride your tricycle past the end of the block

This kind of comment is so annoying when in reality AOC has done like literal hundreds of events with DSA - if you're unaware of it it looks like you're not very involved either. What is your critique? All you do is boo incorrect stuff from the sidelines. Go be on a podcast or whatever.

This is so simple and brilliant. Literally the same system used on elevators. We recognized that every floor needs its own door to avoid having hundred foot tall open chutes. Every station should have the same thing.

I think the number of annual CEO shootings should start equalling the number of annual school shootings. If you disagree with that, I'm curious which you think there should be more of.

The way that university officials have begun to treat “peaceful” and “disruptive” as antonyms, when they in fact are not antonyms, is the kind of violence to language that one expects of authoritarians

Because dogs love humans so inherently that pieces of shit know they can torture their friends and won't be punished for it. Some people don't deserve the love of a dog.

Shawn Fain for Michigan Governor on the Working Class Party ticket who says no?

The 2023 DSA convention was meant to be a turning point in DSA's electoral strategy. But most of the way through their term, every NPC member still supports endorsing candidates on the Democratic line, and no real steps toward a 3rd-party strategy are being taken. I wrote about this disconnect:

Which third party do you think would be most successful?

Libertarian
Green
Working Class
US Taxpayer

Which do you think is the only explicitly anti-capitalist party?

Amazing that baseball fans for the most part just want no blackouts and for the national broadcasts not to suck for the big games and Manfred is like let’s have a piñata in center field and whichever team breaks it first wins the game

Israel has obliterated the mausoleum of Simon Peter, the Apostle of Christ, in Shama, southern Lebanon.

A sacred site that has stood for over 2,000 years, now lies in ruins.

This is not “self-defense”.

This is a war crime and a crime against history.

The rebranding of intentional mass psychological torture as "social media" is absolutely infuriating. Mario Party is social media. Twitter is a divisive echo chamber. A community play is social media. Facebook is a fabricated reality. Intentionally addictive online platforms should be called a crime

Yeah but then how will they beat you to the next red half a mile down the road? What if they make it in just in time to run that red? Then when you both get stopped at the same train, they'll know they got there way before you did. What other culture could you possibly want lol

if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything

@demsocialists.bsky.social is so exciting right now because in times of membership fluctuation, the core organizing cadre is skilled, motivated, and welcoming. This shows a stability to outsiders who can view the movement as an entity capable of rising to the occasion. It feels like genuine hope
