Congress is currently is considering adding up to $140 billion to ICE's already bloated budget.
Our leaders shouldn't give ICE and CBP more blank checks to violate our rights.Tell Congress to rein in ICE at aclu.org/stop_ice_attacks-
We should be like that again.

Last week was #BlackMaternalHealthWeek. In DC, the mortality rate for infants born to Black mothers is 2x that of Hispanic mothers and 10x that of white mothers.
Black women and children deserve equitable health care. We must bridge this gap now. #BMHW26
I appreciate the point this is making but this administration doesn’t follow laws. I also know that whatever they think they can get away with, they will do in DC first. Our lawsuit over the presence of the National Guard is still sitting around. Meanwhile, most other states aren’t occupied anymore.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, which is best known for its tracking of hate groups, said that the Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into the nonprofit regarding their use of informants.
“These things don’t even make the news.”
But they’re happening—right now in D.C.
Keya Chatterjee (@freedcproject.bsky.social) breaks down what’s happening on the ground—and why it matters far beyond the District.

Just because a President announces he’s agreed to a two week ceasefire moments before he threatened to commit war crimes, does not mean he is suddenly fit to serve. #25thAmendment
According to FEC data, Brooke Pinto’s donors have poured over $2.3 million into Republican candidates, with some directly funding Trump’s campaigns. Meanwhile, she’s running as a Democrat to represent D.C.
Taking money from networks that have consistently targeted this city and its people... 🤔
The Council's debating the budget (set to be presented on Friday) and they remain peeved the CFO isn't including money tied up in the congressional tax dispute.
He's still holding hundreds of millions in reserves in case of lawsuits. "That should be illegal," CM Anita Bonds said.
Newly Obtained Video of Minneapolis Shooting Undermines ICE Account Prosecutors did not watch video of the nonfatal shooting until weeks after charging the wounded man, an official said.
Remember that time when ICE shot a man as he fled into his home and then claimed he beat an agent with a snowshovel? And we were all like "you're lying"?
They were lying

Brown's attorneys say the footage proves he wasn't doing anything to merit being shot at, and that the incident "exposes the violent nature" of federal agents patrolling alongside MPD. (Recall there was a second similar shooting only a few weeks after Brown's.)
"Congress was designed to be slow and deliberative, but even by the framers’ standards, it is not working properly," author of new book Stuck @kornbergmaya.bsky.social wrote in @washingtonmonthly.bsky.social. She writes about how Congress can strengthen itself to deliver for Americans.
I just wrote a @theactionnetwork.bsky.social letter: Tell DC Council: Override Bowser's veto and pass the FAAR Act again. Write one here: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...
HAPPENING NOW: Thousands of people in DC are marching to Fort McNair where Stephen Miller, Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi, and other leaders of this regime are living to make it clear we want to #EndTheDCoccupation and #FireStephenMiller. #NoKings #NoKingsDC
"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 25, 2026 CONTACT: media@freedcproject.org, (202) 771-1921 Free DC condemns House passage of H.R. 5103 WASHINGTON, D.C. — Earlier today the U.S. House passed H.R. 5103, the "Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Act of 2026." Free DC strongly condemns the passage of this bill as a direct attack on DC’s human rights and our national democracy. The bill, introduced by Congressman John McGuire (R-VA-5), passed the House by a vote of 218 to 206. It would codify the unpopular federal surge forces that are terrorizing people in DC and calls for “the maximum enforcement of federal immigration law,” “facilitating the deployment of a more robust federal law enforcement presence,” and more. The context for this bill’s passage includes: the murder of Julian Bailey at the hands of U.S. Marshals who were operating under the current "DC Safe and Beautiful Task force;" the Trump administration’s comments that military patrols will be in DC through the end of 2029, ostensibly to prevent a transfer of power; and the creation and deployment of a special brigade of the DC National Guard to coordinate with federal surge forces and local law enforcement. In response, Free DC's Executive Director Keya Chatterjee issued the following statement: “People in DC are being killed, shot at, arrested, and deported based on their race, thanks to the 'Safe and Beautiful' Task Force. This bill to expand that force is part of a coordinated power grab aimed at intimidating DC communities and it's neither ‘safe’ nor 'beautiful.' The Trump administration, Congressman McGuire who introduced this bill, and their allies want to instill fear in the streets and at the ballot box, so they never have to leave office. But the people of DC are the ones who have to live under this occupation, we are the ones who experience the violence at the hands of federal agents, and we remember January 6th vividly. We reject everything this bill stands for."
"The bill includes provisions that: Direct “the maximum enforcement of federal immigration law” Encourage the redirection of available resources to “apprehend and deport illegal aliens” “Increase the speed of processing concealed carry license requests in the District of Columbia” Expand “pretrial detention to the maximum extent permitted by law” Ramp up policing at metro stations, which has been show to disproportionately impact youth, black and brown people, and low-income people Support “facilitating the deployment of a more robust federal law enforcement presence” This bill puts DC’s human rights and democracy in danger. When taken in the context of the new Special Brigade of the DC National Guard, as well as the assertion that military patrols should continue in DC through 2029 — at a cost of $2.4 billion — this bill is a clear attempt intimidate the people of DC, and attack the first amendment to prevent a transfer of power, as was attempted on January 6. Call to Action Free DC calls on every member of Congress who supports free and fair elections and a peaceful transfer of power act immediately to oppose this bill as it moves on to the Senate, and to instead co-sponsor H.R. 5093, "the District of Columbia National Guard Home Rule Act". We urge Senators to speak out against the “DC Safe and Beautiful Act” and members of the public to join us to oppose DC's ongoing occupation at No Kings DC on Saturday, March 28 at 1:30 pm at the Frederick Douglass Bridge. Free DC is a movement led by the people of DC to win dignity for our communities and exert our right to self-determination. For too long, the people of DC have been prevented from fully governing ourselves in ways that are deeply and fundamentally unjust. We are no longer willing to accept this and building the cultural and political power it will take to win. Learn more at FreeDCproject.org."

This bill would codify the unpopular federal surge forces that are terrorizing people here, and it is a direct attack on DC’s human rights and our democracy. Our full statement: freedcproject.org/news/free-dc...
Republicans are trying to flood DC with concealed carry permits, when every single credible study shows more guns lead to more gun violence.
Thank you, Rep. Min, for letting the truth be known! They aren't really trying to make DC safer for its residents. How can more guns = safety for us or visitors? DC appreciates you!
We knew this was coming because the whole reason they are here is to prevent a transfer of power. They are saying this out loud which shows they are going to move boldly to prevent that transfer of power.

In the video, I made out that Trump was waving the Green flag at the start of the race, but who was waving the checkered flag at the end?
"I was only following orders" wasn't an acceptable excuse at the Nuremberg trials & won't work now.
#AccountabilityIsComing
This regime has done more to defend DHS agents who killed two Americans in broad daylight than it has to ensure you can afford to put food on the table or see a doctor.
It's disgusting.
🚨As if DC didn’t already have enough to deal with, today we learned the Senate and House will vote next wk on SJ Res. 102 and HJ Res. 142 to disapprove a bill to decouple provisions of DC’s tax code from the feds.
This would blow a $820 MILLION hole through the financial plan!
Stephen Miller is the architect of some of the worst and most dangerous of the Trump administration's policies. This includes the chaos in Minnesota. I called for his firing years ago, but he continues to serve in this White House. When will enough be enough? He should be fired.
