I saw someone saying "The Pope isn't supposed to be political!" and holy shit, tell me you have never studied history ever without telling me!

I like Molding Wet, though. We get mycology and amphibious choruses.
Look, body, I don't know what to tell you. It's 10:30PM, and I absolutely cannot pull a burrata and cantaloupe caprese salad out of thin air. Suffer, bitch.
Basically, what is done in weeks in other terms is done in about 5 days for this one.
All of which to say, to my fellow HIED folks on the quarter system, if today is also day one of Spring term, may the odds be in your favor.
Deal with students whose admission paperwork is stuck in limbo, deal with students demanding grade appeals, help students who suddenly have internships that want them to start yesterday regardless of the paperwork, students with financial aid hiccups.
But in one week, we have to: finalize winter grades, post winter grades, do the mismatch removing students from classes they no longer meet pre-reqs for, deal with students who are now on probations/suspension/dismissal, help students make schedule adjustments, on board new students...
Between Fall and Winter, we have almost 3. Between Spring and Fall? A whole damn summer!
(Summer term is a weird limitation space outside normal academic time and doesn't move the same way regarding a LOT of things).
So stupid, apparently, it has killed my ability to spell Spring.
But anyway, why is it stupid? Because we have a one week reset between quarters. ONE WEEK.
It's the first day of Sprign Quarter here in workville, which anyone who works on the quarter system in higher ed will tell you is the STUPIDEST quarter imaginable...
Apparently a lot of people are big shocked that Israel has a nuclear armaments program, and as a person who a) has a history degree and b) has read the news on the regular foe the last 35+ years, I gotta ask:
WHERE THE FUCK Y'ALL BEEN?
Today, I had the slightly hysterical thought bubble up that I probably owe an apology to every crazy street preacher in the last decade who shouted at me about "The End Times".
Anyways, how is everyone else's Monday? I think I might reach out and book something with my therapist.
I am so sorry, friend. I hate this for you.
But "Hey ladies, you will find your prince charming at your local game shop!"
Biggest bunch of horse shit I have ever heard in my life.
It's not all game shops. But it has been enough that it is never going to be my go to suggestion.
There are other nerdy spaces. 8/8
The first time I walked into a shop up in Seattle and the clerk smiled and ask if they could help me, I turned and looked for the man behind me, I was so confused.
I have spent so much money with that store now, and others who have treated me like a welcome customer.

Every other person in that line was very male presenting. I was wearing a sundress. My husband asked if I wanted him to buy it. I said no, put it down and walked out, and went and rage spent $80 at the cute book store down the street. 6/
I remember one incident after I was married where my spouse and another couple were out shopping in a town up near KC. The guys wanted to pop into a game store. While we were browsing, I saw a cute Groot plush. It's kind of a thing for us with our last name.
The clerk helped everyone but me. 5/
I had sexual jokes made at me by other patrons and sometimes staff. I was told to come back with my boyfriend. I was told I was distracting guys from gaming just by being in the store. This went on for YEARS and across three states. 4/
I started trying to shop in these types of stores in High School, initially to purchase gifts for friends, or because I had heard interesting things about a graphic novel or comic series and wanted to check it out.
I tried multiple shops where I lived. I was leered at. I was ignored. 3/
And until I moved to the Seattle metro area in my mid 30s, I never once felt welcomed as a customer or especially safe in game/comic stores. NOT ONCE.
I grew up and lived in the intersectional armpit of the south and lower Midwest that is the OK/AR/MO/KS border area. 2/
I want to talk about the post Mikki responded to here (hi Mikki, I adore you) and why these posts are so fucking frustrating to nerdy women.
I am solidly in my mid-40s, and have always been a bit of a nerd. I read fantasy. I write it. I play in the SCA, where I have attained very high rank. 1/
I watched Hercules for Iolaus and nothing else.

I can't explain how good this is.
I have Long Covid and it has completely altered my life.
Before, I was regularly writing fiction, actively present in office for my job, and contemplating possibly getting my doctorate.
Now, I have ADA accommodations to WFH because of synptoms, brain fog has killed my writing, and forget a EdD.
