Do you recall which SPC was being discussed when they mentioned the geographical spread?

The social media response to the arson attack on the Islamic Cultural Centre in #Limerick is appalling.

The big platforms are rotten to the core with vile comments, conspiracy theories and zero moderation.

I know it's not new but "😂" reacts under a post about an arson attack is just another level.

I'm hearing BlueSky has become more and more active for Irish local and political news. Any more recommendations for #Limerick accounts? Especially #rural ones? #Ireland #SpeirGorm

Dave McSavage says grants for stand-up comics could destroy the industry: "Get funny or starve".

The guy who graduated Blackrock College, whose father was a Fianna Fáil Minister, whose brother was a Junior Minister...

I'm sure he was under plenty risk of starvation.

Maybe if they keep trotting him out he'll eventually win an argument, or be on the winning side of a campaign. Tenth times the charm!

Very sorry to hear that former SocDems councillor June Murphy has passed away. When we started in West Cork, she was incredibly supportive and encouraging. Always with the kind word. A very decent human being. RIP.

I've been up to something. If #SpeirGorm can lend a hand , even just by resharing, that'd be fantastic. We've been super busy, but like most small businesses these days, we need a bit of a helping hand to get things moving. All donations are welcome www.indiegogo.com/projects/rev...

To people posting angrily on posts about #diversity or cultural celebrations in #Ireland:

What do you need? Why are you so unhappy? What would change that?

Because we both know getting rid of the people who don't look like you won't actually fix what's wrong with you.

Oh, absolutely.

I more meant his performance as a speaker, which was a lot more scattered and stumbling than he is on Prime Time or shows like that.

But the content of the speech was reactionary and cruel.

Peadar Toibin's #Aontú #ArdFheis speech has the air of "panel show comedian who can't hold their own as a stand up".

On #rtept, and during #GE24, he can get in his pithy lines when he has someone to respond to and attack.

But on his own he's a bit directionless.

What #Starmer and #Labour are doing is more evil than what the #Tories did.

Labour's 2024 win was a swing away from the Tories. Starmer's actions since has been a slap in the face.

At least regressive Tory policies reflected regressive rhetoric winning a mandate.

Impressive that #KeirStarmer won a majority in Commons because of how abjectly shit the #Tories were, and has spent the last 10 months dragging #Labour to the right on every piece of culture war bullshit he can find.

What's the point of Labour if they're anti-worker, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBT?

I did get some very good advice once from my uncle Simon, which was about getting work as a musician but I've applied to all my arts endeavours - be the nicest, most fun and memorable person to work with and people will both remember and want to work with you again.

This. If you have actual expertise / experience worth listening to, point to that, not just the fact that you've been around a while.

The Green Party don’t get as much media coverage as Reform because the continuation of civilised human life on the planet isn’t as interesting as cunts.

A lesson from the last decade of Western #politics --

of #Dems running to the right and losing, of #Labour running to the right and falling in the polls, of FF/FG teaming up to keep SF out

-- is that they're not moving right to win.

They're moving right, because they'd rather lose than go left.

I hope everyone knows that it's very easy for any social content platform, including Bluesky, to be a misery machine and that if you aren't intentional about it, they will absolutely decrease the positive impact you have on the world while making you less happy.

I understand why #clickbait headlines get engagement for non-stories.

But is there data that shows that burying the story does the same?

Will "Iconic 00s Boyband Coming to #Limerick" get more clicks than "Blue to Perform in Limerick"?

I feel I'd be more likely to read the second one?
