I just recently discovered that netflix has one of my all time favorite series, Odd Squad. Now I really really wish there was a Doctor Who / Odd Squad crossover event i could randomly stumble across.

Ms. McIver was elected in 2024 as the youngest person to represent New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District. She had served in the local legislature in Newark, and was well known in her community, but she barely knew any of her colleagues in Congress when she was charged. “We were begging members for support and they were like, ‘Who are you?’” she said. “I’m like, ‘I just got here.’ We were in the middle of meet-and-greets when it happened.” In the first weeks after the incident, many of her colleagues tried to help by donating some of their campaign money to help pay her legal fees, hosting fund-raisers or sending emails on her behalf. While a small group of members still offer her moral support, she said that the aid has petered out over time. “It’s become more difficult,” she said. “Other bad things are happening; other members are being attacked. They moved onto the next awful thing, because they have plenty to choose from.”
From the NYT profile of LaMonica McIver, which I missed on Friday when it came out.
I feel like McIver ALWAYS gets forgotten when people discuss politicized prosecutions.

Fantastic plan! Libby and hoopla are wonderful
What are you looking for it to do? if you just want a reader app, i find ReadEra on my phone and tablets to be a very usable option, but its a very basic option. I do try and avoid DRM options, so store tied reader devices are not something i use currently.
Ooooh, it's not October yet, but might as well be at @humblebundle.com . Just in case any horror fans here need these (the ONI Press bundle looks excellent):

#discgolf - very cool, been waiting for this vid for a while. First 3rd is basic info/terminology, good for new players dull for folks in the know. Mid 3rd has some interesting tourney broadcast info. Last 3rd is fascinating deep dive into flight dynamics physics.

Horrible American release of Nausicaä
A couple of magic finds (back when they were still a bit obscure). Thank goodness I quickly discovered the actual source Nausicaä, that lead to a wonderful collection.
absolutely floored when i watched NIN She's Gone Away in the Roadhouse. Took my brain to a whole other existence.
found some mighty good music there
One of my favourite people just launched a Kickstarter for a new anthology with an incredible global lineup of contributors. Fascination is a dark fantasy collection--witches and spooky cottages, dark fae, and more. Support a Canadian small press and get some awesome stories!
Gotta say, this is one of the best things I've seen on youtube in the last decade:

As this year ends, it's worth it to think of how historic it has been, and to realize how it will likely pale in comparison to 2026 on so many levels, both good and bad. Be safe all, and buckle up, its going to be a bumpy ride #HappyNewYear2026

nothing quite like waking up and bricking your perimeter switch due to lack of disk space, then scrambling wildly to remember all the crap needed to fix it, worrying it might be necessary to spend way too much to replace it :(
I've always found comfort in fever dreams. Happy to hear you got some rest :)
I'll be keeping an eye out for the movie adaptation, no doubt starring Nic Cage and probably would have showcased Betty White in an earlier time
seen so many beautiful murders this year, and your goat posts are always a treat
Thanks for fostering some real talk, the world beeds more of it. sadly, social media is very lacking in real talk, too buried in massive amounts of noise and worse :(
