I remember fire drills. We did several a year. My one elementary was a designated fallout shelter in the basement. But I don’t remember practicing getting down there. This sign was on the building and the auditorium which was across a courtyard from the school.

I don’t remember practicing getting under our desks for thermonuclear war, but I’m sure we did. It was common back then.

This boomer was also nervous watching the launch. I also have Apollo 1 & 13 to add to the anxiety.
