This is a problem. It's not just the US that's being ripped-off. Markets rely on every country abiding by the rules. If someone in authority goes rogue and profiteers, the entire system is impacted and trust is lost. No one wants to play games with a cheat. The US better take heed.
They've had their chances. They've abused their positions. They're now realising that in order to keep *most* of their wealth, they may have to give *some* of it up willingly. That's not true altruism; that's fear. I vote for the "Hard way". Take it all back. Everything they took!

It's almost like the success of privately educated "Elites" is just because they had someone pull their bootstraps for them. Having access to wealth, especially inherited, does not mean you are smarter or more able: it often means you've been given an advantage over other more capable candidates.

In my view, his primary objective is maintaining wealth: this gives him the power, protection and status he craves. I believe he's sociopathic and all his actions/crimes are likely linked to this, but his only objective is to not lose control of that money. Without it, he's nobody and he knows it.
