Since deed-theft is in the news: now is a good time to tell your NYS senator to co-sponsor @jabaribrisport.bsky.social's S7721.
This bill would make victims whole and deter future theft by making both the deed-thief and the bank involved liable for treble damages.

Minerva presente! Honored to have gotten to work with this dynamo several times over the years. May her memory be a bomba y plena💜
I absolutely love this! Throw in approval by a simple majority of all taxpayers through a convenient and mandatory voting process, and you’ve built direct democracy on the bones of capitalism. Everyone would have equal influence on our tax dollars.
Just saw this concert and it lived up to my high expectations. So much range and beauty. I will never tire of pipas, banduras, or cross-cultural collaborations. They featured a bandura that was made in Shanghai in the 1930s or 40s!!!

The petition is still live, by the way. If you’re an NYC person who’d like to see a two-year moratorium on student-facing AI in schools, sign!

The main trunk of an eastern redbud with a lot of really good blossoms
I’ve been intentionally going out of my way to find new and different eastern redbuds and spotted this absolute just before a :squints at card: punishing April thunderstorm (?) started brewing
3D map of the Chongqing Metro that shows the elevation and decline of each line, with some essentially looking like roller coasters
(Chongqing is the Chinese city that went viral for showing how you could be on the ground floor but then walk a bit and be on the 22nd floor, due to the hilly terrain)
This week alone I waved hello to my preferred state assembly candidate twice while biking around the neighborhood running errands.
It's not for everyone, but I'm glad that many people like you did!
Now this pier is next to a very busy bike lane, and it is close to a passenger train line that could put a station there.
Pterodactyls are not dinosaurs either? And I have been long confused about why stegosauruses are if their hips stick out like reptiles. Dimetrodons are my favorite prehistoric animal.

Yes: #TaxTheRich is on the ballot. Great message because it's short, timely, and true.
Though we likely won't win TTR this year, we can win it next year by changing the Albany's composition this year, especially in the Assembly.
For a list of Assembly primary campaigns to plug into, see next post👇
phew! I knew I had missed something. love these pictures.
@positivesubway.bsky.social do you have any updates on eastern redbuds?
I don't disagree with this, but a related thing I am thinking about is what the people who might have volunteered on these campaigns are doing instead. Are they missing out on fun canvassing together? Are they canvassing for Claire or Brad? Are they learning Portuguese?
Middle school offers are coming on Weds in NYC. I am confident that my child will be ok no matter where they go to middle school.
But I am not confident that NYC will be ok or be able to resist fascism if we continue to operate like this is some kind of lottery with winners and losers.
New York City has some grand parades, but the Inwood Little League season kick-off is going past my window now, and they’re delightful. Excited kids, proud families, and a spirited high school drum corps. Sometimes the big city feels like a small town.

NYC does not need to ban protests (almost) everywhere in the city! Tell all of your friends, neighbors, council-members, and mayors!
How to reshape Congress + US politics without a constitutional amendment:
1️⃣ Pass ranked-choice voting in most states.
2️⃣ Re-legalize fusion voting in most states.
3️⃣ Pass proportional representation in most states.
Once most states have done 1-3, reconstructing Congress will move from dream to plan.

Speaking as a teacher, it's hard not to feel trapped. We want to do right by our students, yet we are expected to produce results with programs that function as obstacles rather than aids.
Meanwhile, as the planet cooks, NY Governor Hochul is trying to gut the state’s climate law. If she succeeds, energy costs will rise even more and pollution will grow.
(She’s also stepping on the Dem Party’s electoral message by doing Trump’s bidding)
NYers: call your reps! Demand they stop her!
The suspense!
Just called my congressperson and mentioned HR 2411, food relief for Palestine; HR 3565, block the bombs; and, you know, impeachment
