Kristin is right. Non-MAGA celebrate visible cracks in political power; MAGA supporters deny and minimize 'problems' while paving over the cracks through damage control. How can we 'use' the Pope moments to widen the cracks ralphrosenberg.substack.com/p/they-are-p...
Trump is not the first President to concentrate power, erode norms, and accountability. The parallel to today’s politics is striking: efforts to reshape institutions, blur truth, and sideline checks and balances—they are recurring tests of democracy. open.substack.com/pub/heatherc...
Hypocrisy is a rampant virus under Trump. Feels like calling out hypocrisy just doesn’t stick on R's. Republicans wear teflon, while Democrats get branded. Social media amplifies every inconsistency. Democrats seem to pay a higher price for it. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
I hope she can expand this to how people actually get their news. National trends show most Americans now get news digitally, with over half relying on social media, while smaller shares turn to TV and even fewer to print.

Valuable perspective on the "No Kings". We have to be careful; protest rallies or reliance on "bad polls" for Trump or court victories can be deceptive, often breeding complacency or exhaustion when the news cycle shifts. No Kings: What Comes Next Is the Real Test open.substack.com/pub/willrobi...

Profit-sharing is a already a solution between owners and players. MLB benefits from public subsidies and fans; communities deserve a share . Set aside affordable tickets or reinvest in neighborhoods. The public are investors: they deserve dividend payouts. open.substack.com/pub/screwed/...
When Tom Homan dismisses criticism from Pope Leo by attacking the Church, it’s a classic deflection—shift focus, avoid substance. Trump allies do this with discipline; opponents often respond with predictable outrage that plays into it. Opponents need to learn - from DJT

All readers: please ask everyone you know to tell them where they keep their passports or birth certificates. You could also ask if they know anyone who has ever voted or tried to vote 'illegally'.
Just like during the civil rights and Vietnam protests, some of the best statements come from the heart and the faith.
Married women, rural America, all citizens--if we all stand up, we can save our democracy. The title of their Act is clever--it does hijack our claims this Administration is destroying our rule of law
As much as I find her and her policies dangerous, she did give the Democrats the 'middle finger'. Until members in Congress and candidates ask for her resignation, until bar associations call for complaints about unethical legal behavior which caste aspersion on all lawyers, she will not change.

Set aside the usual cynicism for a minute — Ask yourself: does it feel right for a senior DOJ official to roll back enforcement while still holding significant crypto investments? Americans want public officials avoid to even the appearance of a conflict.

Readers are correctly pointing out that on the one hand ICE are trying to normalize everything (which protestors are not conceding). And the Trump and ICE will settle for Plan B, settle for a civil war.
Slow motion normalization of fascism. Maybe not so slow motion. Minn. residents recognize that one tool they are using are their protestss. And ICE and Trump leaders need to foster this normalization and strike back at us.
This is Trump's playbook. Trump will proactively claim a win. Amanda Carpenter wrote about this technique (she worked for Cruz in 2016 Repub primary). Based on her book, he will claim success and any mistakes or weaknesses will be someone else's.
