Wondering how people will be downplaying this case.

this is the most non-statement thing I've ever heard
I'm going to be completely transparent: if you're already buying the game you should probably wait to play the demo until right before the game releases.
(Demo only lasts for about an hour at most from a content perspective, but it does allow you to have one hamster thing unlocked without luck).
(I don't blame you for being mildly confused with Yoshi by the way - this being a cheaper game in general *does* make this change harder to properly understand.)
I am pretty confident right now that the large majority of future Switch 2 games will still be $70 digital, but now they'll be $80 physical (and something like a new 3D Mario or whatever will be $80 digital/$90 physical).
Nintendo has released "lower tier" games before (see: $50 Switch 1 games).
The Yoshi game is the "outlier" in the regions that already have this change as well. That game was already going to be $60 regardless of this change.
Only difference is now, physical is paying $10 more than before this.
Worth noting bsky.app/profile/pier...
Additionally, the $5 upgrades are just quality bumps for already released games (the $10 ones for already released games did have some degree of new features - whether they're notable or not is something you can determine).
I just assume it will be like in Europe.
With most games priced at €60 digital / €70 retail.
This makes the assumption that it was going to be $70 originally. (*And* that the approach is different to how NoE has done it from the start of the generation).
In all honestly it probably was going to be $60 anyways.
It's worth noting that this is for a Yoshi spinoff.
I don't want to act like it's going to be a bad game, but it's definitely:
- not a major game
- the type of game that would likely get a lower price tag
I don't see how we necessarily have a conclusion that this is "walking back" (not that there's any reason they would).
NoE has had this for its Switch 2 releases since the start, and relatively speaking, Digital prices are (roughly) the same, with Physical prices being bumped up.
I assume the proper way to look at this is a price increase to physical, rather than a price drop to digital, right?
it is (not on NA eshop yet though, is on JP eshop)
lowkey your Wii U/Switch 1 setup looks very clean
I wouldn't increase the base surge time, but rather just make it a second charge of sorts
I feel like instead of an ink cost to use, it would make more sense to have inking have a larger charge time (e.g. 2-4x longer charge time to ink wall vs just go up)
good concept though
I mean tbf I wasn't considering Pokopia to begin with once it came out that it was a GKC.
I don't mind buying Digital or necessarily Digital only games... but don't be scummy and do a GKC just to pretend to have a traditional storefront presence (especially if it's $70)
tbf the reason they're standalone like this is because these are basically unaltered roms
...which is certainly an approach (to put it mildly)
can't wait for some kid to accidentally buy the French version and start learning French.
worth noting this is for Switch 1 (nothing special about Switch 2 from what I can tell as well) so in theory this is a "lower" price point than if it was Switch 2-only
this seems like a direct "port" (what do you define this) of FRLG with nothing directly new (imo LGPE had more effort than this)
at least cumulatively it's the cheapest thing currently sold that's not some f2p slop or friends slop or whatever
random thought: why not have it be a system of "voting OR results"
keeps the voting system for those that would benefit while allowing results to grant an access in for those that might fail to get in otherwise
(disclaimer: largely an outsider, probably wouldn't have a good idea on specifics)
there's also now a docked/handheld divide
splatoon has so many divides
tbf these changes weren't intended to be pushed until 11.1.0 (and were likely unfinished/unfinalized as well)
not saying that pen will be touched though (it probably won't)
it's actually not a glitch
just some person cheating in a strange way (trust me I have no idea why you'd cheat in such a way)
for those who purchased them prior to the end of purchasing (since they last for one year from purchase)
so in theory, they could add Switch 1 titles that release through January 30th, 2027
put it to you this way: a cheat dev saw it on the CDN back on December 22nd
and was not updated further from then until final release
I mean in fairness it was overall going to be easier to hit those in human form - the only actual hitbox reduction (excluding S-Blast for obvious reasons) was for the squid form.
I think that's exactly what they mean to be honest.
I don't think they'll be removed outright (it's sort of been a foundational part of both of the last two entries).
I could see them removing babies though (since that could genuinely be confusing with LGBT marriages in play).
It also wouldn't surprise me (largely to appease [some people] and such) if they were to require explicit(/controlled) attempts in order for LGBT sweethearts/marriages to trigger.
