thinking about our history with music has me really upset about homeschooling culture again. i stare back into the past and i see an experiential void. no wonder we befriended it. that time may not have spawned the hunger, but it sure as hell strengthened it.
the other axis, pinning omniscience to the wall and leaving it there to reflect on itself, is that knowing while not-doing can never be the knowing borne of doing, which is so easy to forget. would that there was more time to do!
it took at least 4 years to figure out all of the art hangups spawned by a lack of exposure to stylization, and it took a lot of human contact to figure out writing. music is just a different dimension, and one that we've avoided for at least 15 years. so i need to remember there's a lot to undo.
finally identifying what i think is the core frustration around our lack of progress in instruments. it viscerally reminds me of the mental wall in both college art classes and high school writing classes.
this, too, Can be overcome. it's just going to suck.

though, goddamn, it feels /amazing/ to finally have some of this written down. it's been a long time putting things together and answering questions (basically a semipermanent setting to use for a few things moving forward, which is very nice)
one of the very fun parts of worldbuilding is getting to write a bunch of unclear history (and then, necessarily, never talking about it in detail because it's common knowledge :D)

the visual style here is really good (also Ida's papersprite in particular is just so. get her some food. and a girlfriend.) and it was a nice (depressing) read! i also forgot to turn the volume down though so one thing fully spooked me-
(one of us?) used to do weekly short fiction way back during high school, so i think this comes from that, to fill the itch of only writing analytical stuff since ending OJE. and also warm up for VNs.

it's rather funny to look at things we've translated. songs (gayly), an assortment of various shitposts (often NSFW), yuri webnovel chapters, actual academic work, and reference manuals.

honestly this is why FTL /itself/, and things like Neptune's Pride, feel so good. i'm just not interested enough in procedural planets and mining loops that have nothing to do with the cool ships and everything in space, and the dichotomy of slow flight and FTL is awkward.
