Hey, whatever it takes to get more folk reading. Who knows, they may be persuaded to give Cormac McC a go after Brad Thor, then move onto other adjacent genres. It’s how I started reading - was crazy into horror as a young teen (still am tbh) then got into Wilde via Dorian Grey and Welles (SF).

Fellow readers! What’s the obsession with counting the number of books read in a given time or to be read? I don’t understand.

It is. Read one yesterday in an otherwise great book by a fabulous author. “..he wretched, but little but bile came up. “

Devouring Rachel Harrison’s ‘So Thirsty’ at the moment, hot on the heels of ‘Cackle’, which I loved. ST is a great take on the vampire mythology. Recommended.

Just did exactly this too. Started Earthlings last night, I’ve had it for months, and wow already.

Just finished The Unkillable Frank Lightening by Josh Rountree. What a wonderful trip back to the (more recent) Old West. Horror/Western mash up, very well written with great characters, some nasty, some lost. 4.5*

I dnfed many this year, some were lauded by many others, but reading - it’s like film, art, music, it’s a personal thing. Colleen Hoover would not be my bag nor Jeffrey Archer, but they bring joy to many others and I admire them for that.

I directed two stage plays and one short film: all written and starring young people. Looked after a dog whose brother was dying, arranged artists to visit and work with kids in schools and read a shit ton of books!!

It’s filthy, dangerous and just generally unpleasant. I grew up in Sutton and went to university in town - great times. My friends who still live there say they now totally avoid town. When I visit, I do my thing and leave sharpish. Lived in London for years, never felt uncomfortable but Dublin now…
