I had a Ralph Lauren suit picked out and was ready to buy it, but I ended up going with Burberry because I thought this was was a Ralph Lauren ad.

also it's corrosive to have an industry telling crappy 20-year olds that it's society's fault they can't have everything they want. back in the stone age, if you were a crappy 20-year old (i was!), the message was "git gud, son" and you figured it out rather than embracing your crappiness

My own very limited experience with him (not the fundraising thing) made me think he was a jerk, but hopefully I'm wrong about that.

Should be clear I don't think you're one of the people who thinks it's *positive* that Riebe doesn't like him

As far as McAdams goes, around the same time he and I got into a substantive back and forth over text on some pretty tough issues, and I cannot overstate the degree to which I am an absolute no one; if he saw me on the street tomorrow there would be at most a 10% chance he remembered my name.

Parenthetically, the different reactions from Nate and Riebe when I told them I was excited that they were running but ultimately would be supporting Ben was stark. Riebe was kind and thoughtful. Nate didn't even text back.

I know there's a segment of Bluesky who views this as a *good* thing, but the fact that the people who work with Nate can't freaking stand him is bad, actually. It's not like Riebe is some establishment shill. CC @purrtah.bsky.social

Ducks hold the tie-breaker, but it's still a bit more in the air than you'd think given their respective schedules.

Yup. You do not have to hand it to her, but she is freaking fascinating; basically bizarro bill kristol.

Even the second has more than no utility for team democracy if it diverts money from, say, Georgia

Can we pair the Zamboni with Weegar tonight and just see how that goes?

(We’re DINKS so I can do all wet food for him, I feel really fortunate about that.)

Thank you!! Yeah, no way I’m going for any of that. My decision matrix is basically Purina Pro Complete vs. Weruva or Tiki. Assuming the little guy also likes Weruva I think I may just go 50/50. At least short term the Purina is doing *wonders* for him but that’s vs “g-d knows what” on the street

The second group likes to talk a lot about what cats eat outside, but ideally your cat is going to live at least 5x longer than any outdoor cat!

Basically two tribes on Reddit: (1) it’s from a big company so it must be good; (2) it’s from a small company so it must be good.

She’s right, ofc. But I wish there were more science to trust! I spent a few hours today trying to figure out healthy cat foods, and beyond some minimum standards there’s just not much data out there

Eh, I’m unfortunately GS on United and Platinum on Delta. Maybe living in Denver vs. not? E.g., if you don’t know where the Clear lane is, it’s a bear to get to even from the airport Westin depending on the state of construction

Ohh. Hard disagree on DIA, where the following things are challenge level impossible:
- getting a decent bite of food
- connect with less than a mile of walking
- walking more than 10' without running into construction
- getting from drop-off through security in less than 30"

You have no right to call me out like this

We just adopted a three year old who had been living on the streets, and he’s the sweetest, happiest little dude ever. He’d gotten real beat up before someone took him to the shelter. You’re doing this cat a solid!!!!

I like high speed rail more than the next person (and we should prioritize better rail!), but it's genuinely complicated: the US is so large that whoever made this map did not know where several of the cities they propose to connect by rail are located.

Image of hypothetical rail map featuring Salt Lake City to the West of Las Vegas, which is in turn is depicted due north of Phoenix.

Learn southwestern geography challenge level impossible I guess

mark kelly was once stuck hanging out with me (and a few other people) for an hour or so. i am extraordinarily confident this would not happen to a serious presidential candidate.

happy to see i've blocked whoever that was

but super frustrated; a lot of people i thought i shared values with are either good with human rights violations when israel does it or tossing out "zio"

Very happy for you, including the part of the next few months where you realize you don't now own a cat so much as have a new, very demanding manager

At least some of the bartenders and FSB agents who will be there had other solid options for work, so I say "yes"

In some ways Cuban is the best example of this because he didn't always have a ton of money and isn't evil, but he'll periodically say or do something that indicates he no longer really knows what it's like to human anymore

I am saltier about last night than I’ve ever been about a regular season game in any sport, so can we respect the troll while pushing that thing into the GSL?
